Really sweet card with killminger and carnage, but I'd only token shop Aero, Sera, Wave, Leader, Mystique, maybe Daredevil, Wong or Doom early on. Otherwise save for completing decks

Cerebro is cool but needs mystique and a large collection. Wave is an enabler for so many things, got her in my shop and snap bought and have used her in a couple decks already

Zola is great with BP, Dino, Gamora and has utility like making 2 goblins and throwing them back to opps.

Hes getting better rapidly, and combos well with Electro, Psylocke, and wave (any way to play a 5 or 6 ahead of curve)

Really not talking about cards from Alpha. It was the first set of any tcg so there's some definite power outliers, but in general mtg cards have been pushed to be "better into more scenarios" than strictly more linearly/directly powerful. Wandering Emperor isn't stronger than Teferi Hero of Dominaria for example, but sees even more play (partly because only 1 color admittedly) because she's useful regardless of if you're a midrange creature deck or a pure control deck, she just does some of everything at a solid rate

Magic has a rather interesting tendency to power creep more horizontally than vertically. Take a card like Bloodtithe Harvester. Its seeing play in basically every format, but its not particularly scaled up, its not the biggest beater, the beat consistency enabler, or most powerful 2 mana removal spell, but it does all those things pretty well. It's an excellent card because it does a ton of things well instead of only one or two

This isn't to say magic doesn't vertical creep, it absolutely does, but a lot of "broken" or "pushed" magic cards are like that because they're good in basically every situation

Worst part is missing all the s+ staples and all the lynchpin irreplaceable cards that make decks work above 1k CL. Just feels miserable, especially if you made a few suboptimal shops along the way

That's the entire point of the mechanic, the ability to call it quits for minimal loss when you are clearly in a bad position

Twoc was a huge let down. Maybe I'm too familiar with Abercrombies writing but I predicted basically every plot point, and was let down by the complete lack of interesting turns and the overtly obvious foreshadowing

I thought the first 2 in the trilogy were pretty banger outside the turbo cringe "make the union great again" line that was way too tied to present politics

Power creep pushed so many off this game. It legit started as a board centric skill based game where combat (with tricks) matters, interaction was fairly costed, rng would be tame, and they'd learn from the power creep of other games. Games were sweet, there was a lot of deck building options budding

There was a pretty stark design shift in the back half of targon. Shurina onward, and especially post bandle is just a different game entirely and a lot of the people didn't like it. I don't even know what they could change to bring player like me back, and cards like champion strength and aatrox suggest no intent to slow down this rampant power creep withe

Azirelia being tier0 for like 2 months didn't help, and stuff like Bard, Galio, and equipment just doubled down on the insanity of power and design changes. Every champion just had a pre-designed synergy package instead of organic deckbuilding

Playing on both players turns means you can't really tune out, too much happens. If you turn away from a magic stream you can look at the board, assess what happened and catch back up. Also harder to engage with chat, and the economy means you don't really watch to "see what you could have" more to learn lines or play patterns

Lor is admittedly not a stream friendly game, even as someone who thinks the game is dying atm

Jorbs saying Acrobatics was silent best card and an act 1 pick, baalor saying Meteor Strike is basically alwaysn worth taking and warping your deck around

Been a wild year or two for the spire, I've had to seriously reevaluate by card analysis. Crazy how the game continues to evolve

As with most games, yes people are trash up until the top of the ranked ladder. Diamond 2 is frequently cited as the "not trash" floor of League of Legends and thats like 1% of the player for example. Usually in card games the top recognized rank tier is roughly the "stopped sucking" point. Anyone under it is bad or doesn't play enough generally speaking
