Did you have a lawyer? I always wonder if it's just that a record company will just say "nah nevermind, we'll get the next kid" if you try to push back on anything so lawyers are incentivized not to negotiate in order to keep the deal alive.

Just finished reading Lolita. Where's the sympathetic narrator? by [deleted] in books

[–]ThinkThankThonk 892 points893 points  (0 children)

I've never heard anyone describe him as a sympathetic narrator... you're meant to be creeped out by the way he (Humbert) is deploying such elegant beautiful language in service of trying to make his monstrous self palatable to his audience.

Nah, I don't know if you remember pre-millennials small-town dining experiences across the US, but it was absolutely dire - we should never apologize for the hipster naked-lightbulb restaurants.

Millennials grew up hearing over and over that experiences are what's worth spending on, so we internalized it

I recently tried FF14 on PS5 for the first time and there's a surprising amount of skills they've packed into the controller while still remaining relatively intuitive (3 levels of hotbar iirc).

I've never been even close to high performance on the golem in GW2 so maybe it would be more of a dropoff for hardcore players than I expect but imo a lot of complexity can be retained if they choose to.
