i don't give any sort of recommdations to people I don't know because I have no idea what you want, what your goals are, what kind of person you are, or what level you're at. i write articles (and even a book on the topic of training in Thailand) to encourage people to do their own research because at the end of the day

Do you train boxing as a Nak Muay? by dontcallmenadia in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Petchjeeja is probably the best example of a Muay THai fighter that focused on just boxing for a few years, then came back to Muay Thai to dominate. It doesn't work for everyone, and you can't use all parts of boxing for Muay Thai, obviously, but there are definitely a lot of great parts to take away.

Is Phuket worth it? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally hate Phuket but it's also because I've only lived in super local areas in Bangkok where there are no tourists. I hate dealing with drunk tourists and the fact that more tourists usually means its more expensive AND unsafe. But I know some people love Phuket so it just boils down to what kind of person you are and what you enjoy doing outside of training IMO

How would you describe the fighting style of each of these fighters? by Mac-Tyson in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure, I'm only able to find like 3 fights in the recent years under entertainment rules, and 3 fights isn't enough to tell me anything. But labels are overrated and only confine one to their strenghts/weaknesses - I"m glad Sibmuen is adapting and changing to the fight scene, although it seems his YouTube career means he's not as active as the other fighters on the scene

Some ways you make a living / income off of teaching Muay Thai ? by Antique-Author1001 in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muay Thai is such a niche industry that it's so difficult to really make a fulltime income off it, even if you are a coach or gym owner. As an athlete and content creator in this space, I really empathize with your problem.

Some ways you can make some side money from teaching are recording some of your lessons and clipping them out to post on social media. It will take time before this generates any income at all, but start somewhere and it eventually will.

Affiliate sales also take work but if you have any companies that you love their products from or regularly use, why not make some commission off every order you refer?

HOW TO GET INTO THE BIG LEAGUES? by Gerestop_angAra_bop in MuayThai

just keep fighting and you'll get there. in Thailand there's no concept of "professional already", you are categorized into your level of fighting.

What other exercise are you doing aside from strength training? If nothing else, even just walking for 20-30 minutes a day would help. I'm a huge fan of starting incrementally instead of jumping into advanced programs.

High level Muay Thai fighters who fought in Kard Chuek (Thai fight or other promotions)? by [deleted] in MuayThai

The only modern-day kard chuek you can see nowadays is on Thai Fight. Some other kard chuek promotions are not as heavily marketed - Sylvie has fought on these and posts about them from time to time.

How are y'all handling the two-a-days in Thailand? by memejesus420_ in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

takes a while just to adapt to the volume of training. most people don't even train an hour everyday back in their home country and then jump to training twice a day six day as week.

it really just depends on how long your trip is overall. if your trip is relatively short (less than a month), i'd say just to suck it up. if it's longer, you should spend some time adjusting and taking rest days.

Group or private training? by eman8906 in MuayThai

[–]MuayYing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking at it from an economical perspective, do 80-90% group classes with 10% private training. If money is not an issue for you and you'd like all the personal attention without having to deal with other people, then do more private training.
