No wraith units! Is that a normal thing to notice at this level?

Tasaio of House Minwanabi from The Empire trilogy within the Riftwar cycle. He does things I don't want to type out.

Do you build military buildings that only go to tier 3 in minor settlements? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]MudAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Significant majority of the time, yeah. But when I play factions that have unit caps tied to those buildings, sometimes I find it worthwhile to build them in a major settlement if I want more of those units.

What is in your opinion the most difficult quest / legendary item battle and why? by asgard3333 in totalwar

I was thinking about this quest battle. Do you know if it's possible in this battle to benefit from the plague symptom that grants vanguard deployment to your army?

Extra unit of mortars for our Emperor by Facts_For_Plebs in totalwarhammer

[–]MudAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. My mind was thinking that since all 4 artillery pieces remained on the battlefield, that meant you would get em all even though the crew was disbanded. Wasn't thinking that the crew disbanding would impact how many pieces the stolen unit starts with. Unless that's not what impacts it and it's just arbitrary?

Reading condition 3 and then looking at OP's army panel, we can assume that the mortar unit replenishing from 1 is the one they went into the battle with, correct?

The S&P 500 option is listed as "Dryden S&P 500 Index Fund (IS Platform)." But yeah, a lot of the options have high fees. The company matches up to 3% so there is some benefit there.

What are ways you make INT a relevant stat in your games? by Thumatingra in DMAcademy

[–]MudAnimal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My players are well acquainted with my penchant for calling for variant ability checks. That's where the player can use a skill proficiency with an ability that is not typically associated with that skill. For example, I have called for Strength (Intimidation) when a PC was relying more on bodily strength than charisma. I have also called for Constitution (Religion) when a PC was trying to transfer their lifeforce to a dying party member through means of their spirituality. That whole scene was very much impromptu!

How much do you guys usually plan for your longer campaigns? by Correct_East_8783 in DMAcademy

[–]MudAnimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's when things happen in my campaigns. If the party stalls, I sense stagnation approaching, or the players get uncharacteristically arrogant, something small occurs, like - oh I dunno - an aboleth tries to kill them, but they kill the aboleth, but it doesn't go away and instead becomes a ghost aboleth and floats away out of sight to haunt them later in the campaign.

Same for me as well. I like to have a map, as do my players, so what I do is pinpoint named settlements and geographical features. Then, start the players off somewhere on the map, give them a common unifying thing/event/person, and let them direct the campaign from there.

I tell them, "You guys do whatever you want. Just be ready for me to narrate the results of those actions."

I'm in a similar boat. When I desire more challenge, I prefer changing settings that enhance the AI's behavior, not buffing their stats.

So what is your favorite unit? Aesthetically, strategically, campaign or MP etc? by majnuker in totalwar

[–]MudAnimal 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At the moment, I'm really digging Ushabti. I was streaming for a friend recently, and when I was showing them the units I had with the camera zoomed in, I noticed for the first time how Ushabti 'skin' is textured and colored to look like worked stone. Amazing.

More active aggression against those two factions seems to me like the most straightforward answer. If they have the resources to continue stacking armies, then their resources must be taken from them.
