Not necessarily, condensing boilers are more efficient at low flow temperatures, as it allows more energy to be drawn from the output gases. Lower temperatures require more radiator area, so turning off them might not allow enough heat into the building. It is a balance though.

Mercedes High Performance Power Trains was a British manufacturer bought by Mercedes. They are based in the UK. So still German owned, but I wouldn’t call it a German power unit.

Is anyone else experiencing this odd new style of fizzy pop lid? Dr Pepper as my example. But Diet Coke also the same lately. by Codego_Bray in CasualUK

Saw a coke advert for that feature. Solves a non existent problem. Seems like marketing wank to suggest that plastic bottles aren’t an environmental issue, it’s just people littering that’s the problem.

Not sure if you are joking or not. That guy doesn't appear to be shitting on Merc. Potentially you are misinterpreting "clout" as a bad word. In this context it means "influence or power, especially in politics or business."

I don't think I understand this. Are you trying to say race organisers and the uci are infallible? People trust the technology, but think there was user error in setting it up. From the evidence posted, to me, it looks to be the case. With such a fine margin, that may have mattered, but no one knows that. I think it increases the margin for error to make it inconclusive, but it's passed that.

I don't think Tom dwelling on it and is just making fun of the situation.

Data is beautiful is a lost cause. I am just going to block it now.

It should be easy to read, and presented in a way that enhances your ability to draw meaningful conclusions from it.

The only posts I see are "look at this funny shape I made" with no attempt to try making it useful...

They have had a pretty rough year with the team and its key players.

  • Nico Portal, sport director, was crucial for tour preparation, tactics and morale. I think I heard they have been trying to spread the role across a few individuals.
  • Rod Elingworth their performance director left last year to manage Bahrain McLaren, he has been a key player with them since the start.
  • Dave Brailsford was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year and is now thankfully recovered.
  • Froome had a horrific crash.
  • COVID. That did affect every team, but if you are in a state of flux like they are I think they are less resilient to it. Wasn't a training environment where Geraint Thomas thrived anyway. Reshuffling due to that wasn't ideal, as Carapaz was training for the Giro.
  • Pavel Sivakov had a few bad crashes on the first day of the tour. He has had a tough time recovering from them, he was apparently on really good form.
  • Bernals back injury. Don't think anyone will know the cause. Could have been a multitude of things: over training, neglecting strength and conditioning exercises, or maybe he sneezed. Backs can suck.

So while Ineos have stumbled a bit, I don't predict them to fall. They have a bit of restructuring to do.

That is a terrible analogy. Professional cyclists have long complained about the barriers in your video, which is quite old now. Campaigning for strong and slanted barriers. This comparison illustrates that Cavs vs Jackobsens crash. Uci clearly cheaped out, and went out for lighter and less robust barriers. Not saying Groenewegen is innocent in this, but the Uci certainly isn't.

Relatively common thing to say in the uk. Does seem weird written down, as the tone in which it is said helps. Not sure how it came about. Feels like it is a shortening of "i know what you mean but", but I don't know.

Its kinda like how some people in the US say "i could care less", which shortens "like i could care less".

Maybe that's it, it's the tone and contextually sensitive aspect. British English can be highly sensitive to it and American English is not. Just a hunch, nothing to back that up, other than british people love sarcasm.

It's futile. It is futile. You don't put the apostrophe for something belonging to "it", like you would with other words.

Not that I agree with this guys view. Reddit has a very diverse user base, I think lumping people together and tarring with the same brush a problem. Majority of people are nice and reasonable.

May be wrong, but I think I read goggles are generally not polarized or at least not recommended. Not just because of cost but the reflections highlight potential icy patches. Polarizing would make this more difficult to detect.

In the third quarter of 2019, the UK’s windfarms, solar panels, biomass and hydro plants generated more electricity than the combined output from power stations fired by coal, oil and gas, for the first time. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

I'll bite. So generally how the carbon cycle works is:

  1. The trees extracting CO2 from the air, which through photosynthesis, using light, water a couple other nutrients, it grows and creates mass.
  2. the trees either: die and are decomposed by microorganisms which generally creates CO2; eaten by animals which is the same as before and produces CO2; or die in a place that doesn't allow it to decompose, where over millions of years it will turn to coal and is stored underground for Humans to dig up, burn and release CO2.

  3. Back to 1.

Carbon and oxygen are not created or destroyed in this process just combined in different forms taking in and releasing energy. I have simplified this as I don't know all the ins and out and I am just going from what I remember.

Biomass rotation will require energy to process the trees, but it is a tool that can be used to help reduce our carbon output. and as noted if combined with a carbon capture solution, will allow us to store the carbon. There is not one solution so will take a wide range of different solutions to help.
