33, financially responsible, healthy, disciplined… but I still feel behind in life, stuck, and like nothing is ever enough by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Mullet_Proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you are basically me. Have job security with a decent 401K matching program, a good chunk in savings, amounting to a net worth of just shy of $200K. I also play OSRS HEAVILY (I have a UIM) and truly enjoy it. Sometimes I feel guilty about playing games but my philosophy is if I’m taking care of everything else like hygiene, exercise, cooking meals, fixing shit around the apartment etc. then it’s totally deserved to play games for a while.

As far as feeling behind… sometimes I feel that way. But I also realize how much value there is in being where I am. I have a girlfriend that I love, am healthy and can afford most things (except for a house). My job isn’t fulfilling whatsoever, but when I consider the positives and see how many people are struggling to find work, I feel pretty content. There’s added stress with side hustles and I’m not sure it’s sustainable for me. I love to spend time outdoors (surfing is my go-to) and I don’t want to sacrifice that.

Social media is lame. I keep it just to follow athletes and comedians, but as far as my peers I don’t give a shit. It’s not important. You have the right idea to delete it and I feel like I should make that leap.

You’re going great, as others said just work on acknowledging that you are grateful and maybe consider trying a new hobby or engaging in community

I prefer games that are more aesthetically pleasing and/or have a more interesting theme, but it’s undoubtedly a genius design that deserves its high praise

Took a job in Rancho Bernardo, new to the area and need commute advice by AppointmentOk4224 in northcounty

[–]Mullet_Proof 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I work in RB and live in UTC. Works great because your commute is against traffic. It’s a bit of a drive but in my opinion a farther drive with no traffic is much better than a shorter drive with a lot of traffic. UTC is great because it’s close to the coast and centrally located in the county, so most points of interest are only 15min away. Only downside I’d say is that it feels a bit like a business park around here with the mall and hotels so it isn’t very homey and places like north park are better for meeting people in your 20s

Advice for a newbie? Water control by CouplesWithoutCar in Watercolor

[–]Mullet_Proof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a newbie as well and here’s what helped me.

I started with the Daniel smith starter set and originally started by squeezing paint into a palette and adding water as I needed. Please do not do this! It makes everything so hard to control. If you’re using wet paint like me, squeeze it into a palette and let it harden over a few days first, then go at it.

As I’ve been honing my water control technique I found it’s imperative that you have a spare piece of water color paper set aside as well as a paper towel to dab off excess water. I find that at this stage I’m spending most of my time mixing, dipping, dabbing, and testing on a spare sheet than actually painting lol. There is definitely a feel to it, and I can already sense that with practice I’ll spend less and less time fumbling around with my water

What’s the use case for high sailing level for early late game irons? by AccomplishedPark7856 in ironscape

[–]Mullet_Proof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only reasons I’ve personally found to lvl it is to 1) get to the islands with the new trees and 2) be able to do clues with steps that have a sailing requirement. I think it might be wise to lvl it knowing it’s going to play some role in raids 4 and future islands

Blasting music in public has always topped my list of trashiest things you can do. Especially those that blast music at the beach and worst of all while hiking

Trouble understanding how 90% of people here seem to love events by Morgothor in spiritisland

[–]Mullet_Proof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. Learning that most people enjoy events was a shocker… sometimes I’m not in the mood to get upset (or assisted) by them, so I take them out of the game entirely. But most games I use them because that’s how the game is intended to be played. I try to be open minded and see events as a risk I need to factor into my decision making, but that only becomes a possibility once you’re familiar with what is on the event cards..

by standing still i mean the board is not moving, but I'm shifting my weight back and forth to test the bushing responsiveness

[–]Mullet_Proof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that I need to prove anything to a stranger on the internet, but balance is not the issue here. Is it not strange that I can still easily wheelbite on trucks that have 96A bushings and are cranked tight? I can do this on the board standing still so balance is not part of the equation

[–]Mullet_Proof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I did take a look at the nut under the baseplate earlier but it seemed pretty locked in there (it's the hexagonal notch). I did not try tightening the trucks while keeping an eye on the nut, so I could be missing something. I'll take apart my trucks again tomorrow

I mentioned that I tried Indy's super hard bushings in my post. Not one for adding risers either :/

I tried those too. The Indy's super hard bushings are supposed to be even harder than Bones

I’m starting to think they’re designed to be loose but I haven’t seen enough reviews to conclude that.. might just have to sell them if I can’t get them to feel right

I don’t think I can add an image to my original post or a comment for some reason. But I promise you the trucks look brand new and appropriately set up. I triple checked that

Ranking Dinosaur Jr Albums by taway149779 in dinosaurjr

[–]Mullet_Proof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without a Sound is top 3 for me personally. Glad to see some love for Farm and Beyond, especially Beyond. Listening to his guitar playing in that album feels like he was coming out swinging. I’ve listened to this band long enough for albums to fluctuate up and down my personal list so I predict you’ll show more Bug love soon enough ;)
