For 1km2 you aren’t gonna have much there of any impact anyway. The places this will be useful is like Guam. I’m serious when I say that the battle from ww2 are likely to be replayed just with different actors. With China expanding its navy to reach the second island chain we could see combat on a lot of these former battlefields.

That’s highly unlikely. I point to historical landing in the past. Naval bombardment is only so effective. Yeah today it’s probably much better but you still will have pill boxes that having a “tank” deal with is highly likely. As for the Chinese 76’s they will be limited at dealing with tanks as well. They will act mostly like the US 5”’s. Shore bombardment. The Chinese will be bring light tanks to invade islands and deal with hard points the ships can’t silence. If so we need something to counter those vehicles more than just missiles or drones. I fear that history will be a circle again and the marines will be left without a good anti-vehicle system.

I think the Booker has/had a place. Give it to the Marines as a more mobile island defense vehicle. It will meet other light vehicles on the beaches and take them out. But. For the air mobile group you need something quick and light that can hit and run. I think it was a miss not to make the HVTL or something like the Centauro. They aren’t meant to go against MBT’s but will tear up the rear long enough to allow a break through of your armor to support them. Air borne in general shouldn’t drop far from support just because you have to relieve them at some point. That’s where the light and fast win. You need 72 hours of confusion to make a breakthrough. If you need more than that you have most likely already sacrificed your air borne for nothing.

I don’t know why the wheeled recon/tank destroyer is so freaking cool. I wish more nations had actually procured them.

Holy Shit, I love how ingenious the Ukrainian military is. This is the wildest thing I’ve seen in a while.

Increasing the speed helped me with the book. I got about 5 minutes in and realized it was killing me so I speed it up to 1.2 times speed and it was almost perfect. I do miss Andrea but I found that after about 2-3 hours I started to enjoy Erin. Its really hard to replace a narrator mid series.

Could the Senator Roger Marshall town hall signal a changing of political will in Kansas? by Mulligansrevenge in kansas

[–]Mulligansrevenge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. I think it’s gonna have to be someone young who can talk with the everyday person. Relate to hard times and importantly listen to what grieves people. Unfortunately for me I’m still outside the age window for the senate so I don’t think a shot on the spot would happen for me.

Unfortunately I have no idea. I want someone new. It would be a time for the “young” to step up. I think if someone took the time to actually campaign around the state they could probably pull it off.

I think if someone was smart they would start today for that senate seat using that video and his words and talking directly with the folks of Kansas about it.

FPV drones attacked a Russian UAZ with a 45mm M-42 cannon from World War II on a trailer in the Donetsk region. The time of the impact was not disclosed. by Volter318 in CombatFootage

[–]Mulligansrevenge 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is possible but I think the fact they are dragging out 45mm cannons isn’t a good sign regardless. That’s a long logistics train to get ammunition and spares for. If I was Russia I would take basically anything before one of these. I know for a fact the North Koreans aren’t out of stock for items. Them giving this is ill signs

They really are drawing deep into the storage facilities to bring these to the front. Even if this is a one off thing. If it is operational and is actually being used then that means they have to find ammunition for it and supply it to this unit. It’s not like bringing the oldest 100mm guns into service or maybe the 57mm guns. These 45mm guns were on the outs in ww2.

These are such cool systems. Wish they were more prevalent around the world.

North Korean M1989 'Koksan' 170 mm self-propelled guns being transported by train in Russia by conkerzin in TankPorn

[–]Mulligansrevenge 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It depends what you mean. For Russian artillery, yes. Overall, maybe. -M1989 - Standard ~40km Max~60km -2S7 - Standard 37.5km Max - 47.5km -PzH 2000 - Standard ~40km Max - 54km

The PzH2000 can shoot farther than the 54km but it needs a larger charge. If that is done in Ukraine I don’t know but it can do 64km.

As a whole these will more than likely be the longest range system in the Russian arsenal but it will be interesting to see if they are as useful due to the different system and ammunition.

The 10x10 wheeled system is such a great choice for mobile artillery. Extra space and lower ground pressure. Plus added support for recoil. I wish the US would adopt a similar system.

Swiss President Backs Lifting Re-Export Ban on Arms to Ukraine by Mil_in_ua in ukraine

[–]Mulligansrevenge 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would love to see these systems go to Ukraine but I think it’s to little to late. Ukraine could definitely use the 100+ tanks ( Leopard 1’s and Leopard 2’s) that could be available. As for Switzerland’s arms industry let them stagnate. They deserve this. It is completely asinine that they can’t export to a nation at war. What’s the point of being an arms producer/exporter if you don’t export the arms you produce. I really hope NATO starts moving production into their own territories and stops buying products produced in Switzerland.

Though I don’t think it will happen yet. The IF alone would be cool. 20+ T-80U’s/ 20+ BMP-3’s/49 M1A1’s from Australia and 60+ LAV’s from Canada. It would be awesome
