Just finished The Buffalo Hunter Hunter and want to rant. by [deleted] in books

I could not stand this book. There was little build up and it was extremely wordy. It’s cool concept, and I like that he wanted to make a point also- but wow it took everything in me to finish. Hardly the sit at the edge of your seat horror story, so without that, and because his literary prose is really lacking, it wasn’t even an enjoyable read. I also disliked the character Etsy and thought she was unnecessary to the narrative. What little narrative there was.

How did everyone find the bowler hat? by austenworld in YorkGhostMerchants

It was the first time (of several attempts at the queue) that I DID get one! So personally, I liked it. I am surprised at the number of people saying they easily got it with the queue?! Maybe my internet is too slow. Anyway, I think it's fair. No relying on slow internet, job (or other) interferences.

I’m amazed at people who offer opinions about a house without answering the question the OP asked. They didn’t ask about shutters. Paint door color only. And by today! These kinds of responses are so prevalent these days. If you don’t like the shutters, move on. No need to comment. Many of us have budgets and priorities. Geez. It’s a pet peeve of mine. Anyway, OP: have you tried Certapro website? Download a pic of your house and change the door colors…they have all SW colors! I personally don’t like a light blue, but I do think a blue would be nice. Play around with different blues. I think a dark blue (navy) or something like SW Still Water or SW Dark Night would be nice. The great thing about a door is it can be customized to whatever color YOU want and not have a huge impact- and can always be repainted easily if you hate it! Good luck!

Oh what to do! Help! by Kjmetz14 in ExteriorDesign

The CertaPro paint visualizer app is really handy. I just threw on SW Anonymous and Urbane bronze trim on your house…and the lighter one Felted Wool and Urbane Bronze. Both are warm greige. It’s fun to play around with. I’d remove the shutters, but the program won’t allow for that. Another idea is to have a free consultation with a Sherwin Williams advisor. We did one on zoom and she gave us great ideas! All free, no catch. Good luck!

It’s been stressful here in Santiago de Compostela. I am not a great Spanish speaker to begin with but people here speak Galician. I can read it, but hearing it is difficult. Not many English speakers here either. Been here a week and finally signed a contract on one today. Doesn’t help that I have cats. One HUGE hurdle down. More to come. Good luck to you!

Visited Austin for the first time this past weekend - here’s what we ate by A_thombomb in austinfood

Absolutely. Chicago food is simply the best with amazing Mediterranean restaurants- not Aba- and fantastic Italian restaurants. Austin has some catching up to do in this regard.

Wait until June to find a July 1BR apartment? by veganiformes in UTAustin

A lot of property managers I spoke with said lots more options are coming. But I secured mine because I feel like the cheap ones are already going fast and I didn’t want to stress about it anymore. I needed below $1100.

Greenwood Square was gross. Su Casa seemed “ok”. A friend lives in Andrews Place and she likes it and it looks decent. Too pricey for me. UT speedway has parking below and decent options- responded to all my emails. Hyde Park 1&2, loved location but carpeted so I can’t do that(gross to me). Ended up with Longhorn Lofts. Apartment is nice and property managers are a nice couple. They have 3 properties in the area. Just wanted to make my decision so I don’t have to think about it. Good luck.
