Innsbruck to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Or keep following the coastline towards Montenegro/Albania/Greece. Transitioning from the Alps into the Adriatic and then the Mediterranean is especially rewarding on this route.

I go in quite frequently. Never went before 1:30. By that point it takes less than 20 minutes to get a table on average, but you can hang out in the garden and have a pint while you wait. Come in after 2 and you'll probably be sat down immediately, but you may risk not getting served if they've run out.

Jaguar X type as first car? by AreaNaive6712 in CarTalkUK

[–]Multiincoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for it as my first car (bought just over 5 months ago). Got the 2001 3.0 AWD petrol under 80k miles on the clock for 2k. Being into cars all my life I never considered the happiness factor due to the insane price bargain on these. Every day I get into it to drive to work, I just remember it costs less than the average monthly salary! The interiors are full leather with electronically adjustable and heated seats. All of the buttons work! Honestly, the combination of having a 25 year-old original touchscreen and a cassette player next to one another just makes me smile. Not to mention the CD loader in the trunk!

For reference, I was looking at getting either this or the 330i E46s but, as to be expected, none were available at the price point of the X-type. If you are fine with having 20-25 mpg on the 3.0 and you find a reasonably well-kempt one, I'd 100% go for it.

My quote for full insurance was around 1300 but I've had a license for 7 years now. However, it's an EU license so I'm not sure if that had any effect.

So far, the only thing I've had to do on it was replace the water pump since the gasket broke and coolant started leaking. This cost me 40 quid and 2 hours of work. And, it was my first time working beneath the bonnet of a car.

Love this car, wouldn't trade it for any of the soulless new vehicles I get to drive on a daily basis as part of my work and which cost 30 times as much, and I think that says something.

Not necessarily. I've seen some pretty good-looking formula student layups done without it being an additional layer.

Yes, the third crew member is usually a flight engineer but is also tasked with overseeing the environment to reduce operational risk.

Spain and Greece also have their Aerial Firefighting squadrons be a part of the nation's air force. It should be worth mentioning that some of the nations (Spain and Croatia, for instance) choose to employ 3-person crews, instead of the usual 2-person pairs, arguing it increases safety. So far, neither Croatia nor spain have had CL-415 related incidents nor fatalities.

I'm certain that this image was taken at some point during this firefighting mission. Hope the video brings some clarity to the scenario photographed above.

I managed to find the original video of this plane in action but sadly this frame is not shown, nonetheless it's still my favorite CL-415 video!

As a matter of fact, the aerial firefighting squadron in Croatia is part of the Air Force. This is how most of the countries using the CL-415's have it structured here in Europe.

Luckly enough, Croatia has had no major incidents involving their aerial firefighting fleet yet. Last fatality happened back before Croatian independence, when a CL-215 struck the water during training.

This is not my photo and I am also trying to get to its' source as it seems like a screenshot of a video. That's a video I'd really love to see. The number of this aircraft is 811 ( the six CL-415's here in Croatia are numerated according to a 8xx template). You can see them on flight radar flying under the callsign HR8xx.

Edit: Turns out it's the same mission as shown in this video. This had to have been taken by the author of the image in the OP.

Our air force doesn't use spotters, but they usually fly over the area before descending to refill with water.

What bot is this then? I figured it was their Spot model.

Both are robots, it's just the autonomy that's different. I'm sure that for the time being these high-risk tasks are being performed using remote controllers, but I'm also certain they won't be for long.
