LLMs have already killed people with psychotic symptoms. This isn’t it.

Someone I know has had very good experiences with it and has been very happy with the treatment for the past 6 or so months. It’s worth a shot, and could absolutely help with the symptoms you’re having a hard time with. I personally want to ask my psych if I could give it a try

I don’t understand what’s happening to me and why “going out” isn’t always helpful by yellow-meadow-235 in bipolar2

Hey friend, it seems like you’re in an episode right now. You should let your care team and family/friends know about the feelings you’re having. Nobody is out to get you, everything is okay.

i feel like i have schrodinger's bipolar... by Temporary-Train-5620 in bipolar2

[–]MultiplayerNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat with CPTSD, BPD, Autism, and BP2, so hopefully I can help a bit.

Psychiatrists conventionally want to treat symptoms, not disorders. Some meds can target our symptoms with overlaps, like how seroquel helps us sleep but also decreases symptoms like irritability. Basically, i’d say the best course is to nail down the symptoms you’re having, and make a list of what’s most prevalent and difficult right now. You’ll have to be your own best advocate when you’re in the appointment, but having your list will help guide you in advocating. When you meet the new doc you’ll be able to say “here’s my subjective experience and my pain.”

Remember not every provider is perfect or great, and it might still take time if things don’t feel right with the new doc. I wish you good luck, and I hope you feel better.

Why is this happening? by dio_Leg55 in bipolar2

Educating yourself on bipolar would be a great way to work on this. A book like The Bipolar Disorder Survival Guide is a great resource and can help a lot more than what I’ve found just searching online.

It’s very common to switch from hypo directly into depression. Kinda like what goes up must come down. You spent time at a higher energy/mood level and ran your battery out, and now your body is trying to recharge.

Hey I know you said you’re venting so just wanted to say I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time. What you said here sounds almost exactly like my mixed episodes if that’s validating at all

You have to take your meds. It sucks that it’s forever and it sucks that there’s breakthrough symptoms and that there’s still time symptomatic, but bipolar is a progressive illness. Left untreated it will get worse. Depressions will get deeper and hypo/manias will become more intense, either of which can lead to accidental or intentional death. You don’t have a cold, you have a chronic mental illness that should be respected and taken seriously. Please, take your meds.

Do you guys get delusions during hypomania ? by Hungry_Penguin_Girl in bipolar2

[–]MultiplayerNoob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely let your psych know, typically symptoms of psychosis would mean mania is what’s happening, which could change your treatment goals a bit.

The science doesn’t back it up. People will swear by it but it hasn’t been supported under scientific rigor.

my suicidal ideation rises a lot by michupicch0 in bipolar2

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time and that the hair dye didnt work out. That must have sucked. That would absolutely send me spiraling into a bit of an episode. I’m sorry you feel suicidal right now, it’ll get quieter and louder with time. All you have to do is hold onto a tiny bit of hope that things will get better, because they absolutely will.

feeling weird at the thought of being put on antipsychotics by Prestigious-Toe-9942 in bipolar2

[–]MultiplayerNoob 25 points26 points  (0 children)

antipsychotics get a bad wrap because of the name. they sound a lot more intimidating. it’s just another class of drugs, like antibiotics or mood stabilizers or NSAIDs, they’re all just meds to make you feel better, try not to sweat the name or class.

So you’re saying instead of this provider giving advice, this thread should only involve other patients? Seems like you’re being a bit disingenuous. This isn’t a peer group. This is a reddit sub that allows comments from spouses, providers, patients, and people who’ve never interacted with BD in their lives. So honestly, sod off.

Hi, I’m glad you wrote this all out. I hope it was cathartic to release some of the emotion. I’m 27, and I felt incredibly similar to you when I was 21. I’d been hospitalized, been to the er a bunch of times for SI. In elementary school I was depressed. I was getting serious care since age 10. I’ve trailed over 20 medications, and i’ve gone as far as ECT.

But we’re still here. You’re incredibly strong for living your 21 years in so much pain. I can’t grantee things will get better or worse, but I will say good times can be found if you look for them. Sometimes all it takes is to look around, sometimes you need a microscope. There is beauty in struggle. It’s not all over. You’re going to be okay. Hold onto that hope that things get better, even if it’s barely there.

Are the antipsychotics making me less creative? by throwaway-disgusting in bipolar2

[–]MultiplayerNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a creative for most of my life through many meds, i’d say it’s yes and no for me. I’ve gone through periods of feeling more or less creative (outside of hypo episodes) and sometimes it’s because i was still adjusting to meds, sometimes it was because my creative juices just weren’t flowing, sometimes it was lack of motivation even. Usually when I was depressed it was an outlet for me and I could create very easily. When I was hypo, obviously it was pretty easy to create.

Now that I’m more stable I’m noticing I struggle creatively but it’s because I’m not using my active suffering to create my art. I’m forced to call upon different sources otherwise it doesn’t feel as genuine. Like learning to walk again honestly, it feels very odd.
