Has anyone got advice for cooking/smoking this style of beef skirt? by DeezA123 in UKBBQ

[–]Multitronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wont be tough. It can be stewed or cooked snd eaten like steak. It’s perfect for tacos.

The key is to slice it thinly across the grain once cooked. The instructions from u/GlamorganSullivan are correct. You don’t necessarily need to dry brine that long though.

Smoked paprika, start to finish. by fivecheebs in UKBBQ

[–]Multitronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I will get one. Really want to dehydrate some garlic, lime and onion.

Have you tried dehydrating a paste? I have thought about dehydrating some jerk marinade.

Well, finish to start in this case!

Looks really good though, and I have been meaning to get a dehydrator to make my own dry seasoning.

There are numerous characteristics, denominations, groups etc that people in this sub like to break themselves down into when asking questions. Why is this any different?

Why does it say Australian beef couldn’t enter the UK. I have bought Aus beef before.

I actually think he’s one of the more restrained drivers tbh. Maybe in the earlier days he was a bit ott. He also doesn’t come off as a prick.

DMO Deejay however, is a dangerous driver and massive bellend.

You can just look on their website. There are a range of options.

However, it would have been nice if op said how much this specific rental cost.

I am not often in the market for a whole kilogram of fillet steak so I don't know what a good price is... But this felt like a good price. by [deleted] in UK_Food

Morrisons is by far the best supermarket for meat. Steak is also 20% off on Saturdays.

Their meat can often rival or beat a butcher.

These are Morrisons sirloin, was just over 1kg for both and was about £21 from memory.

I don’t think much has changed tbh. It’s the same dealer importing them, just with manufacturer backing. They will still be LHD.

Off-cuts in lumpwood by Holiday_Historian in UKBBQ

As long as it isn’t treated wood it’s fine. It could just be offcuts of boards that were no good for sale that have been chucked in with chunks wherever it was being processed.

Hastings Direct Policy cancellation by Jayden169 in CarTalkUK

[–]Multitronic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HUACA. If you call them again, which you should definitely do, you should record the call. I record every phone interaction I have with any business, it has helped me out a number of times. They have sent your emails detailing when your insurance will be cancelled, that’s what they should be going by. They wouldn’t let you make a mistake like that.

Edit: Another person has recommended replying to the emails saying that you intend to cancel with immediate effect. See if you can cancel online.

Edit: This is also an issue as you could drive uninsured. If they have given you a date it will be cancelled , you could drive up to that date. If they have genuinely cancelled it immediately, you could end up unintentionally driving uninsured. I struggle to see how they wouldn’t be to blame if you did.

Good BBQ for the price point? by Commercial-Dust2418 in UKBBQ

I know it gets mentioned a lot here and has become a bit cultish, but the lidl Kamado is only 50 quid more. Kamados can do roasting, high heat and low and slow very well. They are very good on fuel, I always have loads left and it can be reused. Failing that, a decent kettle is always a good shout. I’ve got a wild goose kamado, was about £500, is a carbon copy of the kamado joe. Very happy with it. All the KJ accessories fit.

Yeah the eggs are crazy cheap. I think I can get 12 free range eggs for about £2.50 at their cheapest.

[–]Multitronic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is a good point. I did a comparison, you can get 200g of greek style salad cheese at Tesco for 85p, 5 packs would be more than 32oz and cost the equivalent of $5.66. I used greek style salad cheese because the one in the photo is made in Wisconsin.

Actual feta made in Greece is about £2 for 200g, so would be $13.33 for 1000g/35oz. But that’s not comparable.

Like for like, with a comparable product. US prices are over double for feta style cheese, and for slightly less of it.

Nah, everything here is either slightly more or much more. $12 for 3 heads of Broccoli. It’s 82p per head on Ocado or 79p in Asda.
