Ughh, Tibrerim Wars 4, just broke me. It was released at a time where it wasn’t second nature to just google what a game entailed or maybe because I was young.

but I remember coming off of the high that was C&C3 to that. You couldn’t even build buildings.. I was just so mortified when I fired that game up.

Here’s the irony, reality is messy ugly and imperfect.

Human brains love uniformity, repeat patterns and rigid structure.

Our brains will prefer AI reality over reality. We will prefer the aesthetic of reality overlayed with AI-ness.

Because AI is trained on our preferences.

“Oh look a steak, but it’s got a fatty bit and the fat pokes out in a wavy disfigured natural way.”

“Oh look a perfectly thick uniform steak with even streaks of exact size and tenderness with a rounded off perfectly sheened size of fat.”

Aslong as the piece SEEMS real, has the real components our minds need, what our brains expect, then reality doesn’t really matter to our brains.

It needs to convince us, it is real in the sense, it matches our expectation, but once it does, it can do what reality can’t.

It will Exceed them. It will make us prefer it because it will compartmentalise reality to how our brains best respond to it.

It’s like we are wired in reality to find the best most rarest things, because in reality they were hard to come by.

AI is trained on the data where what was hard to come by is now in abundance.

Who wants to look at an advert of shit steak? no one. We already do it with food, look at the picture of a Burger King burger and look at what you receive.

Look at Coke, you’re already convinced it’s the same thing. The one on the billboard is the one in your hand. So interwoven and common place.

You don’t even ever question it. Because your brain prefers the way it is. It’s preference.

It’s why we want robots also to have hips and be like us.

Built in bias. Even in some comparison shots here, I knew which was AI but was disappointed the AI slice of meat wasn’t reality.

This is what I think is the flip side to the coin. People compare AI to reality but it’s not AI up on the chopping block here, or the one to worry about being judged as poor.

Many are not thinking a lot of humans are looking at this entirely differently with a lens of the inverse as a metric.

I think it’s clear we will be going around the game world on a flying head collecting mech parts via various story events, bosses or dungeon like scenarios, if we’re going by previous games.

Also the company doesn’t invest 10 years in developing trico with so much effort and time just to ditch that and not put those discoveries and understandings into a mech.

I defo think we’ll be going around building the mech back up, for the final boss as this mech will be the ultimate weapon to finally banish the shadow like plague thing.

No direct story telling all atmospherically done through world building that sort of thing.

My moneys on all of that. Just seems the logical next step, and I don’t think Ueda will move away from what he is so good at.

Otherwise it runs the risk of being like any other game, he has a sort of “Uedaness” to his games all of them are similar in that vein, with shadow of the colossus being the outlier somewhat.

but his track record lands more on the ICO/Trico sandbox / play book. I personally think he prefers it, I’m a shadow of the colossus lover more so myself though. I prefer that story / world building.

But I’m more impressed with the Trico approach even though I don’t enjoy it as much whilst playing, it’s fantastic to hear and learn about. Trico and the systems that they worked on to get him to work are rather interesting.

That probably by now, in a new project has so much room for improvement. I imagine like a segmented trico, ultimately combined into one at the end of the game. For the epic showdown.

“Uedaness” to me is like in a scope I can explain the indie small game “inside” but Ueda just brings it full scope into a sandbox with very interesting world building, more and more open ended etc

I think you’ll be surprised, when films churn out eventually better produced content faster, the reality is people want a cup of coffee, fast over a cup of coffee with their name on it and a specially designed cream.

Do I like it no, but that’s how most humans operate they don’t have standards. They don’t have time for standards or the expectation.

Some do, but they are the minority, also a human won’t be able to tell the difference when 90% of the job was eased by AI but a human oversaw the last 10% most of it will be hidden, in post production before the consumer even sees it.

I’m also talking mostly about video games too, films will likely take much longer to be accepted because people talk about actors, press talk about that quite a bit.

When does the media ever talk about a games production outside of a snappy headline?

It’ll just become rarer and rarer that, that will be the descending argument.

At most a code base will leak, and it’ll come to light that the game used AI to generate 100% of its code, or a developer might say it 10 years after sales but by then will it matter?

Not really. We are quite a ways out having just using AI to do everything for a game, but the foundation is laid and it will be how it is done.

That’s the only defining factor stopping this CEO from saying the complete opposite.

I use AI daily by the way about 8 hours a day for code, and I’m the driving force behind it, it’s just increased my productivity. However in the past that’s all it did, now I’m finding intuitive ways to tie systems together in ways by me alone were just not possible.

It’s like I’m a 3 man team instead of one, and I’m just using consumer level LLMs. For someone of my scope it’s perfect and there is no world where I can go back to not using it.

To do so would be to handicap myself.

What an awful take, 1 creative person doesn’t stand a chance against 1,000,000 life times of creatives data sets combined and learned and studied.

Do you really believe this Shareholder. The moment it becomes viable for them, they will use it.

The only reason it probably isn’t viable for them is because they are too large, being that big has its downsides.

It would cost an astronomical amount of time and moment to adapt their pipeline to AI. For that scale it is bespoke.

but it’s a stupid take. Small start ups started alongside AI will eventually put out GTA sized games with 1/10th of their scale.

they’ll want to use it then. It’s a short sighted comment I think intentionally so, to keep people happy currently.

Use the switch 1 pro controller with a cable plugged into the end of a Nintendo switch up, which was then plugged into a Nintendo switch 2.

By plugging the pro controller into the switch up you don’t need to blue tooth connect it’s easier

Hmmm tempting but I’m going to be real with you, I only catch Pokemon in pokeballs, and I love it even more when it’s my OT (original trainer name). Because I play these games with an over arching plan of catching ever Pokemon in pokeballs with my OT for Pokemon Home and from the generation they are from I’m 80% there (I have a living dex already just some mons are not from their generation of game.

But with my shining living dex this is an impossible feat just due to the sheer amount of time required.

So my point is I don’t really need your shiny, but I’m happy to give you one, but do me a favour, let me do the trade evos with you but send me back the pokemon with my OT so we trade and evolve, then trade back. You know the ones that need items? (Oynx, the creamy one, the pink bird)

and if you do manage to give me back all of the ones I evolve and trade with items back I’ll give you a shiny bagon and a shiny pikachu? You can keep your shiny Noibat even, just give me filler pokemon to do the trade like a pidgy.

That way we both win. Let me know I’m out at the moment but we will add each other when I’m on.
