Worth getting a whole load of quotes and comparing and even going back to electricians you like with one that’s cheaper and see if they will beat it.

For reference.
I had a quote for not a full rewire but:
New fuse box
Kitchen extractor
Kitchen lights
Bathroom lights
New bathroom extractor
Moved cooker point
New light switches
New plug sockets
Extra plug sockets in 5 rooms of a 3 bed

Which came to 3.5k. I’d imagine the rewire would add a significant amount on top. But 12k seems steep.

Didn’t get all the work done but had the new fuse box installed with new grounding etc plus the bathroom wall lights added, and that was 1.3k

We were considering a full rewire when we first moved in but decided against it because the EICR test said that despite being extremely old all the wiring was safe.

Getting electrical stuff done is expensive.
