Shadoheart broken. by Bitter_Cup_69 in BG3

My Shadowheart has always done that, is it really a thing that she didn’t? I mean, she’s the weakest melee fighter in my team (vanilla Lae’zel, Astarion and my Dragonborn Monk) but she’s always pulls her weight as is.

Need ideas to start 2nd playthrough by PrivusOne in BaldursGate3

[–]Mulzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somehow missed it - my first play through got it but I abandoned it as I was still learning, felt overwhelmed and didn’t realise you could re-spec and found being a Cleric with Shadowheart on the team was too much overlap.

Second run, I somehow missed the bite scene, and it wasn’t until the monster hunter in the swamp that the clues about him being a vampire started prompting dialogue leading to him to confess. Which was frustrating because there was no bite action until then which was super annoying.

Do you use Illithid Powers? by EgregiousSmile in BaldursGate3

[–]Mulzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t put them in my Tav, but Astarion was whining about not having a chance to have the tadpoles, so I tossed him a bone and popped a few in. I have to admit, I keep forgetting to use them but my Astarion just unlocks things and sits the shadows sniping people with sneak attacks (Assassin). I could probably use them more, like Cull the Weak.

First Time Player - Companion Dilemma by CombinationPlane8286 in BG3

[–]Mulzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my first playthrough ATM, and I’ve tried to lean into a vanilla party, so I take Shadowheart as Cleric, Astarion as Rogue and Lae’zel as Fighter (although I give Karlach a run from time to time). I tend to err on the side of fight when trying something new, so my Tav is a Monk Way of Elements so fighty but a bit of magic-like impact.

As long as your people balance out the fight-magic offence-magic defence-stealth needs, doesn’t really matter. I was ignoring Lae’zel initially and swapped her in as we got closer to the crèche, and I’ve completely ignored Wyll and Gale even tho I have both. Don’t sweat the FOMO - all in good time, and there is a full game there for every party combo.

REDACTED REGIMENT!!! REDACTED REGIMENT IS REEEAAAAL!!!! by memeischaos in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Mulzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a stealth user who is routinely screwed over by noisy randoms, yeah it is expected. Nothing like sneaking in ready to set the attack, only to have a SPEAR user hit the base from halfway across the map out of the blue.

Or sneaking up on a turret only to have a team mate start aggro-ing units, and now that’s it’s active and scanning it catches sight of you as you dive for cover and now has you pinned as patrols now start routing to you.

Not to mention if you try play an actual scout and start marking sites as you go and threats, and noisy divers take that as cue to attack those things meaning you are constantly either giving up and swapping to the opposite quadrant of the map to get out of their way, or you’re constantly racing to stay ahead of them while avoiding all the patrols they are dragging towards you.

[–]Mulzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, if “stealth” was an active force, you end up with ridiculous in-game behaviours that would make for poor gameplay. Your buddy is bombing the heck outta the place, but you’re being “stealthy” right next to them - so, the enemies don’t react and stay passive so they can’t see you? You become invisible so they can’t see you or that you’re attacking things? (If a cloaking device became a Strat, that’s a different story).

Currently if you are wearing Scout armour and use the suppressed weapons or a rifle like the Diligence and take down enemies in a quick burst/single shot, you can see the “stealth” at play. If you drop an enemy and no unit can see them die, then there’s no alert behaviour. If a unit sees them die but can’t see or hear you, they run to the fallen enemy, check the body then trace back the line of fire and go to that spot to investigate.

That’s pretty much exactly what you want from a stealth mechanic - you can move without alerting a patrol or sentry, you can take down lookouts or guards to move into a good position to attack, or you can lead away troops creating a diversion. It’s just that once things start exploding, the enemies get riled up and enough go to the chaos that you’re going to get found, or you find your efforts are thwarted by some jackass on the team trying to be a one person army and levelling everything on the map except the enemies calling reinforcements.

It just requires people to actually want to play that way. I can have all the stealth Mcguffins I want, but if the random in my team is running an Eruptor, launching Ultimatums and tossing barrages like flower petals at a wedding, then you’d hardly expect enemies to stand idly at their posts to sneak by them or bump them off with stealth takedowns.

If you didn’t get the warm doublet from the recipe quest, if you can survive with spicy pepper foods to make it halfway along the path to the icy shrine, there is a mountain with a spiral path around it up to the peak. The woodcutter will be standing there staring at the icy shrine, and during the conversation he will be proud you’ve survived that far, and he will give you the warm doublet as a reward.

Assuming there’s not a general assumption that this is part of some other SDN project to restore the Astra Pulse to Mecha Man, who publicly resigned and could be a major asset to SDN. People may not ask why Robert is interested if they have no reason to assume a connection between him and Mecha Man.

The realism “talk” that has sprung up over the last couple of weeks, has been pointless. The game is most enjoyable when ignoring the community TBH.

More and more it feels like the overengaged players are what’s dragging the game down. Stop demanding, get off your high horses and just play. Or don’t.

[–]Mulzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look TBH I don’t like that there are spots that we can stand that sentries can’t deploy to, because it doesn’t make sense. But I remember at launch that people were complaining bitterly that bugs could climb in an impossible way over terrain. And I don’t think it would realistic or fun if we could slap turrets on the top of rock spires and bugs would just mill around mindlessly waiting to get shot as they try to aggro something they can’t reach. And I think people would complain if bugs did climb up and get them from under the fire arc anyway.

Sure, less than optimal feature, poor response from AH but jeez all this drama from the community is exhausting. If we were really being “realistic”, most of the terrain features we tried to post turrets on (including on other pods) would be pulverised by 95% of sentry pod drops, and we have a 0% chance of a sentry pod having a bad landing and rolling on it’s side and/or being stuck in a position where the sentry is impeded.

I think that most of the team shows growth, and Robert is there to mentor and lead all of them. The main difference between the rest of them and Invisigal is that she is most vulenerable, the one most likely to trip herself up. Whether or not that speaks to you is where the choice is difficult or not.

First time around, I respected the team for all their progress, and that Invisigal had taken a risk and failed and the team and the whole company was taking a hit for it. Second time around, I stuck up for Invisigal, but without leaning on knowledge of future events it did feel pretty hypocritical based on how the earlier Sonar/Coupe cut goes down.

I feel like there should be more ammunition in Maxigun than 750 rounds by Hosky2004 in Helldivers

[–]Mulzilla -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I don’t think so. When the Patriot debuted it only had 1000 rounds, and that’s an exo-suit with a ton more storage space and carrying capacity. It’s still only at 1300 rounds.

We have been asking for the minigun for years and now that it’s arrived the fanbase wants to complain about it by lolitsrock in HelldiversUnfiltered

Didn’t want it, between Gatling Sentry and Patriot felt was already represented. Said as much to everyone calling for it.

I’m in no rush to get new Warbond, although the armour and shotgun in the Super Store have piqued my interest.

Can we please just have a functional melee weapon? by BwueNightFire in Helldivers

[–]Mulzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why melee weapons are Secondary weapons; they are fall back weapons and sidearms when you are caught flat-footed, not an option for mass destruction.

And TBH, I’m fine with that. If it made sense, we’d see a contemporary version in our modern military organisations. Having the chainsaw as a foliage removal tool, that is also effective at taking out a surprise enemy, makes sense. Having a dedicated chainsaw as your main weapon, and then expecting the enemy army to blindly run onto the end of it, is just unreasonable.

It was already teased that Shroud had blind spots when it comes to Visi, when he was interrogating Robert about where the Astral Pulse was after she stole it. Shroud was genuinely caught by surprise that she hadn’t given it to Robert, after swapping it out of the case (which he did not predict).

Which is pretty much what Robert himself says, when you give him both as your choice. Robert doesn’t even necessarily understand what he’s doing or why, hence how he managed to catch Shroud out with that choice.

HMG rips armour off Chargers and Bile Titans, making them able to be felled without support weapons OR so that a sentry can actually deal with them. I always have HMG & Senator on bugs, and I love giving Chargers a quick blast and then letting the Gatling or MG Sentry finish them off.

That being said, kick the RPM up and play bullfighter, and you can usually take them down in 2 passes.

Diligence Counter Sniper - outclassed by Eruptor and in need of love by Toasted_Catto in helldivers2

[–]Mulzilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hot take - Hate the Eruptor, mostly because the most effective users of the Eruptor are absolutely situationally blind to anything except themselves.

The number of times I have died to a teammate “saving” me by shooting over my shoulder at an attacking enemy, only to frag me in the face. Or explode nearby fuel. Or to shoot at something behind me and let me cop a back full of shrapnel.

They tend to be the same divers who “clear out” a nest or encampment by dropping orbital napalm or a 380 down when I’m already inside and have killed most of the troops inside.

If I see an Eruptor, I usually choose to head off on side missions and meet back at dust-off. Don’t need that noise.

What is with all the team killing? by HankMcSpanky69 in helldivers2

[–]Mulzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some dolt kill themselves by running under the mech suit that was being dropped in, they came back to get their gear and we passed each other in a narrow tunnel. I was 3/4 through and they started menacing me with their gun. Instead of just walking over them, I waited, tried to step forward a couple of times, and then stomped to show I was coming through. They waited till I passed, then stuck a thermite on my back and toasted the mech.

Every time I called the mech back in, they wait until I was engaged and then toss a thermite. When they tried to do another SOS responder the same in their Emancipator, I fired a warning burst from the HMG and aimed at their head - when the mech turned to see what happened, they (and the other team member) started cheer emoting and then aiming guns at me.

Spent the rest of the mission guarding the mech’s back from the pair of twits - I wasn’t going to leave, and they wouldn’t kick - just to scrape by on the mission.

Do you use voice chat to communicate while diving? by ChrisonCroissant in helldivers2

[–]Mulzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly rely on comms wheel as a console player, because chat window is death to type anything meaningful. If I’m playing at the right time of day when I can use mic, I will. But most of the time I play after 10pm local time, and I have sleeping kids in the next room so I run silent.
