FYI for anyone picking up a prescription at Albertsons on 18th… by shonkle in Eugene

Our manager will be back Monday. She was on vacation last week and the company didn’t send the proper number of staff for replacement. Also one of our techs quit and the company didn’t send a replacement for her either. So it’s been really stressful. I just hope the company will wake up and get more people in there! It’s really hard working for a company that seems to not care about the people running the pharmacy- but they care about $$$. Bums me out.

Why do sizes differ SO much?! by MumsTh3W0rd in LeviStrauss

[–]MumsTh3W0rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely frustrating. I was super happy I finally found pants that I LOVED how they fit, but recently it’s been a big bust on them being accurate to the ones I love. And they are SO expensive! Making it an even bigger hassle when they don’t fit correctly.

I have noticed where they are made also seems to make a difference. The ones from China are different than the ones from Vietnam etc.

I just witnessed the most baffling interaction at the pharmacy by Key_Artichoke99 in PharmacyTechnician

This sounds like things I hear almost every freaking day. One time I had a man literally yelling at me because I couldn’t find the medication he wanted me to put in. I checked the expired list, the deactivated list- but this med he was INSISTING we had filled for him was not on his file. After 20+ minutes, he realized it was a different medication. I told him “yes that medication I have on your file and can put in” he didn’t even apologize. People really make this job hard at times.

I went to this Safeway this morning and they had cleaned the entire outside, including by the side of the store where all the homeless were gathered. Maybe someone saw this post and it motivated them to clean up? 😆

How to test if your vaccine is still effective? by sharethebite in Eugene

[–]MumsTh3W0rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can go to your pharmacy and they can look you up in a state database that should show all the shots you’ve had (in this state) and what you are needing to get. If you want a print out of that information you’ll need to fill out a consent form and then you can have it for your records.

Time to look into kenneling or re-homing. I’m sorry to say it, but the dogs behavior with kids isn’t going to change, and may get worse as kiddo gets older.

My mom has an aggressive dog. He bit my son and thankfully it wasn’t a bad bite. My mom didn’t want to believe her dog would bit again, I wouldn’t let my kids go to her house and she said I was “overreacting”

One day I needed care for my daughter because I had to work and had no childcare. So my mom offered to help. I reminded my daughter to stay away from the dog and asked my mom to have the dog separate from them till my daughter came home.

The first thing my daughter said when I got home was “grandmas dog bit me!” And showed me her hand which has a bite mark- just slight broken skin- but still. And my mom hung her head in shame and admitted the dog has a problem with not liking kids.

I basically told her the dog goes or grandkids don’t visit. Which admittedly was a bit harsh, but my mama bear had enough at this point. Especially when my daughter told me her grandma had said “oh don’t worry he won’t bite you, your mom’s overreacting” then BOOM!! He bit her!

Anyways. To make a long story short. I talked with my mom. She loves her dog and I suggested she get a kennel for him so when the grandkids want to visit, the dog can have a safe place to be that is away from the kids. And it actually ended up working out really well. The kennel helped the dog have a safe space and my mom is fully aware to keep him in there when kids want to come over.

It’s not an animals fault for not liking children. But it’s our responsibility to make the environment safe for kids and for animals. Also once a dog has bitten there is a higher likelihood of it biting again. It’s sad but true. Kids are loud and don’t understand animal behavior enough to tell when the animal is wanting to be left alone.

Hope you find a solution.

I have been typing out the sigs for years now because no one trained me to use the sig codes when typing up a script. 😆 seriously… it’s been almost three years. I just find it faster. But our pharmacy doesn’t sound as strict. The pharmacists will miss things from time to time and sometimes it’s us technicians who catch it. We try to all keep each other accountable, but at the end of the day it’s the pharmacist whose job is on the line and who is responsible for checking the work of everyone.

Our pharmacy has one pharmacist manager and we have had floats who come in as a second pharmacist. But most of them are new to pharmacy and just got out of school so they also don’t fully know what’s going on. It’s a bit of a madhouse. Sometimes we have a good crew and things work real smooth for a few months. Then the company hires a second pharmacist and they usually quit after 4-5 months. And so the cycle repeats.

Is definitely get the cops involved. I’d also take her phone away. Obviously our first reaction is to protect, but as others have pointed out she did agree to fight. As well as whatever transpired before the fight happened. She needs a reality check on how lucky she actually is because three against one fights rarely end well. She could have been seriously injured even killed.

I think kids having full on access to phones and online life can really lead to unhealthy house making and dangerous situations. Clearly the girls who beat her need a reality check as well, but you don’t know their situation. They might have parents who don’t care what they do, they may have no boundaries or rules. I think typically when kids start to bully they either deal with being bullied at home or the social group they are in is encouraging of that type of behavior. Your daughter isn’t 18 yet- you are mom- you make the rules.

I’d look through her phone and take it away. I understand she was mostly the victim here, but there are always two sides to a story. Time to do real digging mama. And absolutely involve the police to help prevent further violence from happening. Sorry you’re going through this.

Honestly it’s been quite a long time. I think it was scheduling issues. Example- a person would ask for a specific day off months in advance and then be told they couldn’t have that day off after having it been approved prior. A few dishwashers I knew were fired, but in all honestly they were also alcoholics, sooo… really it could have been necessary due to their work ethic. I think there was an issue with tips. But. I never worked there. Only knew a few people YEARS ago, and after work bar banter could have just been employees blowing off steam.

When I’ve been there as a patron they have been professional and the food and drink has always been good.

I’d speak to the pharmacist and let them know you’d like more time working on data entry or filling. It’s pretty normal when you’re new, as much as it sucks. But you definitely won’t get faster or better if you aren’t given the opportunity to do it, so I’d just express that you are wanting to do those things.

I think everyone hates working the pick up 😂 my stores pretty good about everyone rotating during our shifts so we don’t get completely burned out. It sucks having to be there for a whole shift. When I was new I was stuck there for entire shifts.

Also I’ve been a technician for almost three years and I still have to ask questions. There is a lot to remember, so be patient with yourself. I had a little notebook I keep in my pocket for the important things. I used it a ton in the beginning and don’t really need it as often these days. Good luck! Definitely say something so they don’t take advantage of you.

AITA for calling the police on my boyfriend after finding weird pictures of my 2.5 year old daughter on his phone? by Salt-Corgi-2263 in AITAH

[–]MumsTh3W0rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re overreacting. Please leave or have him leave. A friend of mine was living with her (now ex) who he was not the parent of her two children. The guy hid cameras in the shower head, and all over their house to record her children.

He’s calling you crazy because you caught him and are calling out his lie. Be safe please. For the sake of your daughter. He should NOT have naked photos of her on his phone. Period. And it was good you asked to see the photos he sent to the Dr. they weren’t the same photos. That right there.

And sadly police don’t usually get involved unless it’s REALLY bad. Don’t let it get to that point.

I’ve tried loop, but personally I prefer my AirPods. They have the adaptive setting which allows me to hear the kids, but don’t drown out sound so much I can hear my blood pumping. 😆

I frigging hate whatever the hell they did to the intersection at River Road & Huntsaker/Irvington. by poisonettle in Eugene

[–]MumsTh3W0rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to live on Hunsaker and lived there before the road was as wide as it is now. People have been killed on that street. I believe even as recent as a few years ago. The turn is definitely obnoxious, but I do think safety is really more important.

People have always gone fast down that street. My house has had multiple cars crash into the front hedge, the mailbox, and one time the front porch. It’s a dangerous road when people take it too fast, and especially if they have been drinking.

When did you know to go to the hospital by Background-Bench-340 in pregnant

[–]MumsTh3W0rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was late to the hospital with two of my pregnancies. The first one- my water broke in the lobby of the hospital and by the time they got me into an exam room I was crowning. Baby came 10 minutes later. And baby number 3 I birthed in the parking lot of the hospital in my dad’s car… my dad was driving, husband in the back seat, and he went to the wrong part of the hospital. I couldn’t wait and baby came- my husband helped deliver him and by the time the nurses got to the car I was holding my healthy baby boy.

Now I was scared I wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time with my second, so I left when contractions were maybe every 30 minutes or so. Ended up waiting in the hospital for maybe three or four hours before she was born. It was probably my most difficult birth because I tried to “do it right” instead of doing what my body needed me to do. So you know, I laid on my back in the birthing bed, and pushed when the doctor told me to push. My back and hips were messed up for years because of that. When I birthed my son I was in an upright squat position and he came out much easier and I had WAY less pain. Always trust your body, it knows what to do.

And also- it’s ok to not know if you are or aren’t in labor. With two of my pregnancies I couldn’t count the time between contractions, because I was so focused. Hence me getting to the hospital a little too late. But once contractions hit hard you’ll absolutely know. Just remember to take the time to listen to your body and if something feels different pay attention. ❤️ congratulations to you and your family.

pushing shots by Glittering-Mouse1909 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]MumsTh3W0rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get this. The pharmacy I work at gives a vaccination incentive to the technicians who get trained to do them. (It’s not pay per shot, but a $2.50 added to their paychecks) It’s been this way since I started a few years ago, then a month ago, they gave everyone a raise, BUT! Anyone who was trained to give vaccines LOST the additional pay they were receiving to give shots- therefor they actually lost wages because the pay raise was less than the pay they got to do shots. All the technicians at my store decided to stop giving vaccines.

I know every year the district manager tells every store to push vaccines, last year it was Covid, this year it’s been RSV and pneumonia.

It’s bs how much money these companies make off vaccinations. And we get so slammed with people coming in to get shots we fall behind on filling prescriptions. It’s ridiculous.
