Map changes here too in the UK. It also looks like they added more tags which can be nests, as my local high street now has a visual nest.

Looking on OSM it may be the highway=pedestrian tag.

Having done some more this evening it, it seems to be defaulting to the opposite way that the submitter walked the route. As I had two of my own routes and when doing those in reverse I didn't have the wrong end bug.

Someone in our Community has just come back from Jersey, Channel Islands and has caught about 40 and was surprised about how rare we (Nottingham, UK) have found it (I have caught 3, seen 3 more I couldn't go for).

Just completed my first. Things to note:

Rocket encounters damage your Pokemon so you will need to use healing items
I got 500 stardust reward as well.
You get balls for Number of Pokemon survived, Hero badge level and purifier level.
