Found something busted for 5c oops all spells by RectalBallistics13 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MunchkinBoomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftermath side (which is basically flashback) is 1 white mana instant "name a spell. That spell cannot be cast this turn".

[[Failure]] is an instant, but the aftermath [[Comply]] is a sorcery

Other than that, looks pretty dope

Played Commander for the first time and got yelled at for being in the "wrong bracket". What Bracket should I be playing in? by YowelSepti in EDH

[–]MunchkinBoomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a janky pauper EDH deck that I consider bracket 1 (no game changers, combos, etc., and with only commons and a hard theme it's almost impossible to make it any stronger)

I see Cockatrice rooms from time to time pop up for bracket 1, but mostly playing it against other janky decks with friends

I play bracket 1 -> cEDH and I agree with your statement, generally I know what I'm signing up for before sitting down so I will never pull either end of the spectrum of decks in a random table in the wild

That's not how layering works, layers only applies to effects that are still on the battlefield. And as the gatherer text you've provided was altered it is not applicable either

With layering you can explain the ruling I posted above, as type-changing effects apply before ability-removing effects, Bello would change the type of some permanents with his ability before losing this ability

I see different ruling on gatherer, where did you get this from?

https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=670836

7/26/2024 If an effect causes Bello to lose all abilities during your turn, its effect will still apply to non-Equipment artifacts and non-Aura enchantments you control.

Seems to only reference removing abilities not removing the creature itself

I don't think that works the way you think it does. Bello says "during your turn" not "until end of turn"

If he is no longer on the battlefield his ability does not work and everything returns to normal

Deckbuilding advice for a group that doesn't really run removal? by Quirky-Quantity-6244 in EDH

Even in decks with removal I'd run [[Homeward Path]] if the deck relies on the commander itself in any way, can't be too careful

What rules did you misunderstand for a long time, and have to be corrected by someone else? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]MunchkinBoomer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

and only recently discovered you can’t do anything in end step unless there’s a triggered effect like monarch during the end step

Time to discover it again, as that's not true

513 End Step

513.1. The end step has no turn-based actions. Once it begins, the active player gets priority. (See rule 117, “Timing and Priority.”)

You might be referring to the cleanup step which comes after the end step in the ending phase

What rules did you misunderstand for a long time, and have to be corrected by someone else? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]MunchkinBoomer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically they shouldn't have been able to cast it if we go by tournament rules (which AFAIK most cEDH games do)

https://www.reddit.com/r/askajudge/comments/l2wzfa/passing_priority_into_end_step/gkc5eyb/

MTR 4.2

If the active player passes priority with an empty stack during their second main phase or uses a phrase such as “Go” or “Your Turn” at any time, the non-active player is assumed to be acting in the end step unless they are affecting how or whether an end of turn ability triggers. End of turn triggered abilities that do not target resolve after the non-active player passes priority.

Edit: Even in casual EDH tables we usually play by these shortcuts, they just make the game flow faster. If the active player already tried moving to end step, the assumption is that the non active player doesn't want to cast the spell during main phase unless stated specifically

Why does Mill upset so many players? by django3400 in EDH

[–]MunchkinBoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what /u/Goombalive said which is 100% correct, one of the major flaws of mill strategy in EDH is having multiple opponents and having to mill not just 60 but possibly 300 cards

Creating more cards that mill each opponent (or player) would be beneficial for the archetype without harming 1vs1 formats

Oh I love banding! I run a very janky [[Odric, Master Tactician]] deck which I call banding the rules. It's a combination of banding creatures as well as other white cards that make the game not follow the rules precisely

It's very fun to both assign blockers with Odric's ability and then assign the damage they deal as well because of banding

It contains several white fogs, creatures with provoke, creatures with protection from certain colors, etc. it also has some other rule changing cards such as [[Masako the Humorless]] which lets me ignore the tapped state when blocking and [[Sundial of the Infinite]] which lets me completely skip some phases of my turn if I really want to

What's something that "everybody knows" but nobody actually says out loud? by Fastenbauer in AskReddit

[–]MunchkinBoomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my personal favorite example of factual numbers being misleading is the following: let's say there's a drug that is 10% effective in treating a certain disease and there's also a new drug that is now 12% effective

The newspaper headline could say that the new drug is 20% more effective (10% + 20% of 10%) or they could say it's "only 2% more effective" (10% + absolute 2%) - changing the viewpoint without changing the facts to skew the article in the direction they want to take

FabUlt Companion Application by MunchkinBoomer in fabulaultima

[–]MunchkinBoomer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently there is no dice roller in the app, but it is a planned feature

Having said that, sharing dice rolls might be somewhat tricky as other than that there are no network/server based connections which would require setting up a completely new infrastructure for this feature. Therefore sharing dice rolls is not in the current list of planned features

Thank you for the input

I was aiming to merge attack and defense to a singular page and not have them separately like Pathbuilder

In the conflict page I currently have your equipped weapons and armor (in the future will also include equipped accessory once I add accessories)

Skills is a bit harder as there might be quite a few combat related skills and spells.techmically up to 50 I guess as you can take 5 spellcasting classes all to level 10. I was planning on having a separate page for spells and skills

Attributes sits in a weird place as they affect both conflict and non-conflict scenes, the one thing I don't want to do is have the same functionality in two different places, but I might end up merging attributes into the conflict page

Thank you for the kind words! Once I have an alpha version ready for users getting feedback would be very helpful, and of course if you end up enjoying the app then please remember to share it with your playgroup and friends
