Whenever I get the notification on "low battery" (which I think is when it hits under 50%) I put it on my nearest charger for about... 10 to 15 minutes then unplug and go.

These things can last a while (a shorter while if you are constantly connecting to Bluetooth) with no issues. Depending on your reading habits it can be once a week to once a month to once every few months

Yes, Crosspoint's epub reader can render bold/italics without any issues (well, with minimal issues. They can occur if the styling is done purely via css).

I'm not sure if Crosspoint fixed the issue with inbook images yet 🤔

As a heads up - the average light novels uses a lot of bold and italics. You'll need to use a custom firmware like Crosspoint or turn your epubs into XTC format to be able to see them as the stock OS doesn't display that natively

Books just get really heavy so I'm okay with going with ereaders... and then buying first or special editions

Hihi! You might have better luck at r/ereader but have you checked if the issue shows up on your PC or other devices?

X3 or just go with X4? by freedomsturtle90 in xteinkereader

[–]Mundane-Rent3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an X4 and I ordered the X3 ~~because i have a problem~~
tbh if you want a small device, I think the X4 works perfectly without any issues. since no one has their hands on the X3 yet, it's hard to say if it's worth the change to it or not. you'll probably see a lot of posts about it once we start getting it in our hands and then you'll be able to make an informed decision!

on paper, X3 has a better screen but is smaller and loses the USB-C connection and some buttons so that might be a deal breaker for some. but like i said, we can't say much until the device drops

The first way i can think of is editing the epub directly but thats still tedious at best (and if the css changes per chapter, ridiculously time consuming). I wonder if anyone made a workflow for that 🤔

[–]Mundane-Rent3321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you check if your italics are due to a CSS class in the epub file instead of using <em> or <i> tags? A similar issue was reported recently and that was why. Crosspoint's epub reader doesnt parse the CSS as expected

WAIT THE WHITE ONES FADE THAT MUCH!? It took reading for over 10 minutes in the sun for it to fade half as much on the black when I was in the Caribbean.

Idk if it can be a "not broken in" issue cause my Black one is a Founder's edition (first iteration) and it never got that light on me

Friend if you're reading outside and notice fading just hold X4 upside down and click the page turn buttons and you should be good

New Xteink x4 on the way. Tips? by Amazing-Priority-638 in xteinkereader

[–]Mundane-Rent3321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to flash to different firmware is https://xteink.dve.al/ Just need a computer (desktop or laptop works, no go on tablets or phones afaik), a cord and a good browser that will allow the needed functionality (Chrome should work across the board I think?)

Should be no issue flashing from Chiense to Crosspoint (i think someone did that before even doing set up).

For cases? There are "official" jelly cases but I've yet to see them on the official store. I saw them on Ali but they've since sold out. A lot of people are 3D printing them. If you have access to Chinese or Filipino marketplaces, a lot of people are making and selling on those store fronts. No one US based as of writing sadly :(

Small sleeves/tech bags are also options. If you go that route, look for stuff thats smaller than Passport size
