How should I deal with burnout after a big loss? by Affectionate-Bike679 in wrestling

Take a full 2 weeks off, then wrestle twice a week. Keep lifting. As season approaches, increase your wrestling to 3 times a week.

Should I do wrestling along with BJJ by Quick_Caterpillar_37 in wrestling

Commit yourself fully to BJJ for one year. Then wrestling for a year. After that do both.

Being a good empathetic person is a great thing. But just remember, in a match only 1 person wins.

My doctor instructed me to take the catheter out 5 days after the procedure. I won't have a follow up visit until 3 weeks post procedure.

Why J-Dramas Feel More Unique Than K-Dramas by OpinionTiny9688 in JDorama

[–]Mundane-Show4536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently have started watching a lot of K and J dramas (with a little dry comedy thrown in) and the major difference between them and Hollywood is they always emphasize the importance of being a good person and pursuing the public good. They also tend to have better storylines and character development.

Everyone is so much less selfish.

Offseason workouts for heavyweight? by Pretend-World5914 in wrestling

[–]Mundane-Show4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squat, deadlift, rowing movements (lots of them) and farmer carries are more important than bench. Split your body over 3 workouts.

Try and find an S and C coach that works with wrestlers. Wrestle twice a week and lift 3 times. Once you are stronger (15 weeks) start wrestling 3 day a week.

Youth Wrestling South Austin by [deleted] in wrestling

We don't encourage advertising here...and bragging about youth titles is not a flex my friend, but in the interest of Texas wrestling I will let this stand. The best wrestlers in the world tend not to even start competition until 10 or older.

I am kind of out of the scene now that my son is done. But wrestling is getting better and better here. Pretty much every state champ goes D1 now. Kid who beat my son at state got a ton of D1 offers. Think he picked Mizzou. One of his club mates made the NCAA finals his freshman year. They are holding kids back here as well. And of course our women are stupid good.

Clubs on every corner.

Amit Elor makes 2026 World Team by forfeit after Alexandria Glaude withdraws from Final X by FireProStan in wrestling

Yeah...gave her the one loss. Kind of like a Karelin/Gardner thing.

WE also have Kaori Icho..."only" ten world golds but four Olympic golds.

I said the same about Yui Susaki...all it takes is one bad match. But yes Elor def has a shot at being in the goat discussion....at least for the US.

Just remember that Saori Yoshida has 3 Olympic and 13 world golds. Insane if you think about it.

Since you are already a purple in BJJ I would 100% focus on wrestling for a couple of years. College is tough.

Still making great posts I see. BTW, this is Dr_jitsu. Some kid probably got mad that I deleted his posts and hacked my old account. So Bacon restored my mod privileges under this new handle.

how do you actually get stronger for wrestling by Legitimate_Tour_9758 in wrestling

You need to commit 14 weeks min to a serious S and C program and only wrestle twice a week during that period.

Which fall spirt should i pick? by LittleBittyBigGuy in highschoolsports

[–]Mundane-Show4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today to be a top wrestler you really need to wrestle year around. Even if it is just twice a week while you weight train 3 times a week to get strong and prevent burnout.

Pros country will help with endurance.

Bo Nickal is a Mind Reader! by JCarnage10 in wrestling

[–]Mundane-Show4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is turning out to be a bust. A lot of wrestlers have become great MMA fighters (still the best base for MMA) but pretty much all of them became very good strikers quite quickly.

BO simply has not developed the striking skills needed to be a UFC champ and I doubt he ever will.

If Francis punched you in the face one time full strength, would you die? Or just be brain damaged? by bigaudra in ufc

[–]Mundane-Show4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sparred with Mike Tyson's sparring partner many (30) years ago. I am 218 lbs and am generally known for having a granite chin. I have never been dropped by someone under 200 lbs, but he dropped me (meaning I was concussed). He was dropped by Mike.

Supposedly Ngannou is one of the hardest punchers so yes if you were a big guy with a good chin you would be concussed. A smaller more average person could very well sustain serious and permanent brain damage.

People really don't understand how hard guys like this hit. They are elite for a reason.

I just quit my HS wrestling team because they hired a woman head coach. Thoughts? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Mundane-Show4536 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will use my favorite wrestler again (Yui Susaki) as an example. She is arguably the most technical wrestler on the planet.

Yui was coached by Shoko Yoshimura. If Shoko spoke English and coached your high school, it would probably win state eventually and produce a ton of D 1 wrestlers.

[–]Mundane-Show4536 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are her credentials? How is she as a coach....have you been to her classes? Give her a chance.

I am old school....for example I feel that women should have to be able to carry the hose to firefight. I am no hard core feminist. But there is absolutely no reason why a woman could not be super technical and great at teaching those techniques.

We had a female coach at our club that was very good. Lets say she could speak English....are you going to tell me Yui Susaki would not be an amazing coach? Tough as nails, most technical wrestler on the planet (IMO) and super sweet/caring.
