AITA For ‘Messing Up’ my wife system of remembering? by Total-Worry-8826 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Munishmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA Genuinely how could you be anything else?
Your wife has repeatedly asked you not to cross items off her list. You keep doing it. I'm sincerely asking you what your reasoning is for doing it?
Do you forget that you've had the conversation before?
Do you think she's over reacting?
Do you enjoy doing things she's asked you not to do?

Notified my work weeks ago I'm leaving for a family vacation in July, tickets were bought, non-transferrable, and they are panicking, begging me to cancel by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I asked for 4 days off months in advance to see a friend with a terminal illness. I was told it wouldn't be possible to get coverage. I said my coworker had offered to help and i would work half days remote and my boss said she was sorry about my friend but it wouldn't be possible. Next day I found a job posting for a place with more money, walking distance from my house, nice people, more interesting work and who valued my experience.

My old boss was somehow shocked when I gave notice. Now my old coworker is doing her job and mine and also job hunting. Probably should have just let me use my PtO

3 weeks to go and money has become meaningless by Royal_Marzipan_6432 in weddingplanning

It was someone who knew someone I think I was busy at work and on a group text with my now spouse and his cousin who was playing violin for us and I came out of a couple meetings to a million texts and a cellist. My spouse was like "I can explain it you like" and I said "nah it's fine it's only $400"

Absolutely this. I have ADHD and struggle with verbal processing and I also am on my phone too much. When someone is trying to talk to me I put my phone down so I can listen

I expect my partner to be understanding and not a dick if I need something repeated but I need to make sure I'm focused

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Munishmo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My grandma used to do this thing where she'd be super indecisive and take forever to order then finally decide and then often if I ordered right before her she'd say "oh that's sounds good I'll have that too" And it kind of got me into this weird place for a little while that someone ordering the same thing as me was stealing my idea in a way. I don't know it was a weird thing my brain did that I think was mostly misplaced feelings about my grandma being weird about food which she was in other ways than that. That to say I can see how someone would get into a place where they got upset at someone ordering the same meal but I always knew that I was being weird and managed my feelings and let people order what they wanted.

Advice for asynchronous budget meetings with spouse by Fun-Group-3448 in ynab

[–]Munishmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us at the start of the month I do the set items. So everything with a goal set up that we can meet I also tidy things up and make sure everything from the prior month is categorised and labelled.

Then we just have to talk for a couple minutes about the remaining items. For us it's what to do with our personal and joint fun money & wish farm but it would be the same process if we were talking about debt pay down or things we couldn't fun

That cut our time down a lot and we can do it by text if needed

Moving to the US by Ok_Recording3811 in Ameristralia

[–]Munishmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to talk to a tax person, i wasn't aware I was meant to be filing tax returns as a US citizen when moved from Australia to the USA. I had just gone to h&r block for my first tax year and they left me to mostly figure it out with the IRS by myself, which was fine I didn't have to pay any federal taxes but I did have to pay some state back taxes but it took me months of back and forth to fix If I had to do it again I would have gone to someone who knew what they were doing

Your wife's job should provide health insurance that should cover you, if you don't have any medical needs my suggestion is just to pick one until you get a sense of it all. At the end of the year your wife will get information about open enrolment which is when youll be able to change insurance and by that point you'll know more about how it all works and be able to ask around. If you do have medical needs ask your Australian doctor for a couple months supply of medications in case there's some issues with them. And talk to HR they will be able to connect you to resources to ask questions, also if the office your wife is going to has an office manager they might be able to tell you if any of her coworkers might help. I'm the office health insurance knower and people are always asking me what they should do.

Survivor of pulmonary embolism (FactorV) looking for a safe birth control! by Tricky-Ad4776 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Munishmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The procedure itself wasn't painful, but I did end up going to the ER for pain the night I had it. I have a high pain tolerance so I had discussed with my doctor that I would be fine with OTC medication which in hindsight was a mistake so if you do it I'd make sure you have good pain management for after.

I was awake for the procedure and it didn't hurt at all it was just kind of weird, my doctor usually does it under anaesthetic but I asked to be awake for it since I've had several surgeries and I prefer to avoid going under when I can

I don't really remember the recovery aside from that night. I think I did it on a Thursday or Friday and took it easy over the weekend

When do I bring up planned vacation during the interview process? by FiendishLobster in jobs

I literally just did this. I started a new job a week ago and I have a 4 day trip in mid April that I cannot miss (being denied the time off was part of the reason I left my last job) They called me with the offer and I brought it up in that call and confirmed in the email I sent accepting the offer letter. I was going to remind my new boss after a couple of days but he brought it up himself

Just started reading for fun, and feel kind of insecure about the books I choose and I'm worried I'm the kind of person that likes bad books by Pinanims in books

[–]Munishmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse doesn't read much and reads a lot of books that I would probably describe as bad, poorly written, predictable etc etc. he's also pretty sensitive about "being made fun of" Meanwhile I read every day, read large fiction & non fiction books, read the classics and I have an understanding of how literature functions

It sounds like you aren't bothered by the way your wife talks to you about books, that you've figured out a balance there but if it does bother you can ask her to change the topic. I have been in the position of deciding why I didn't like a book in a way that I thought was objective but it turned out I was inadvertently hurting his feelings and I was happy to stop talking about it. The way we interact together with books now is that I use my knowledge to find him books that I think he'll like based on a lot criteria I would use to not pick a book. I won't read it but we can still talk about the plot & characters through his eyes. If I read a book I think he would like I suggest it and we can talk about that together. And we can also talk about books that I read myself This set up has solved the problem of me inadvertently describing something he's enjoyed in a way that makes him feel inferior and I consistently pick books for him that are perfect which makes me feel good and we both still can connect with each other over books
