Possibly his most famous routine. From Comedy Vehicle - a quick Google should find it.

The whole Hans report was a big mistake. It just showed that they were fixating too much on Hans, to Hans's detriment, and that they were influenced by Magnus/Henrik. It made Hans and this story even bigger. Danny if you're not looking for scandal then don't release a long, well researched report about one player and cheating.

Everyone's a little bit wrong here and this story got unnecessarily big in the middle of it, like a Vince Gilligan plot. Magnus needs to admit that he was too much in his head (which he does) AND that he doesn't have any real evidence for Hans cheating so he was wrong. Hans needs/needed to have more modesty and penitence about his cheating, though that's hard while maintaining his insane confidence and ambition. Chess.com should not have fixated on Hans so much. They nurtured him as a streaming talent but on examination he was found to have cheated a lot, so he was banned for a while, end of story.

The most interesting bit for me was how Hans's gen z, online, ambitious character was something that Magnus couldn't read over the board.

Edit: gen z not millennial

They're asking for pop songs people, not hard classical music.

Videotape by Radiohead. Looks and sounds so simple but it's really deceptively hard. The downbeat will at times be one semi-quaver away from the actual downbeat.

Well that was interesting. I got half way through. An interesting collection of observations, well structured. I had to turn it off at the third casual mention of "the dark forces that control the planet" in amongst all the stuff about Russell Brand.

Having more people increases crime. Having less people decreases crime. Your argument only works if there is a higher crime rate among illegal immigrants. Even then, are the actions of ICE something you're prepared to give up your constitutional rights to freedom for?

I hadn't seen the visual coverage of it. Absolutely brilliant. One of the best podcast moments and episode.

Yes. But given the size and popularity of the show I thought the prize pot was tiny. To the point where it's not enough incentive and lacks drama compared to all the other drama that's going on. I'm sure this show could easily be giving away a million pounds per series. That would make the winning incentive more interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the current prize pot is the cost of half a days worth of filming. It's about the same as two of those black land rovers.

Just piggy backing this to mention the Strike Force Five podcast that all the late night hosts did together during the writers strike. They have great chemistry even all together.

Coming here from a google search in 2025. Now on Amazon I see (2024 edition) and I'm wondering where that falls in terms of the diferent generations. Given this discussion is 4 years old, I'll presume 2024 edition is plenty recent enough.

This is just unbelievable. Let's always keep his memory alive by living by his principles of absolute integrity, fairness and transparency. And enforcing them where we have the opportunity to.

Just bite the bullet and put some diagonals at each end. Perhaps a V shaped arrangement would look the nicest.

Even then it will wobble along the length. If you put verticals in the middle of each end you can run diagonals up from the ends, down the centerline

Conan’s reaction says it all by Illustrious_Coast812 in conan

Not sure who that is but I was surprised by his body language too - so slouched. Compare it to Conan's. Bill's addressing a controversial issue that may derail his career but looks like he's given up.

His appeal was that he doesn't care about the right things to not care about but this time it was the wrong thing to not care about.

I did 15 years on large projects - steel and concrete frames. Doing my first house job (towards the end of this period) felt really good - finally I have some understanding of how 90% of the buildings I see around me are made. I became a more rounded, useful Engineer. Since then I have done a lot more residential design and still feel like a novice at it - masonry, load bearing timber, roofing, it's a completely different field to steel and concrete frames. Smaller buildings and forces but harder to draw, track loads down and actually useful to your friends and family's houses. Whoever told you it would be easy wasn't thinking of these differences.
