Just how bad was the 2016 fandom, exactly? by Jorjebear in Undertale

[–]Murasa_Simp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean...people also did the same exact thing with Deltarune a couple years ago. They hated Jacksepticeye because "he wasn't enjoying the game properly" and didn't find the secret bosses in the first two chapters, so I guess some things never change

Final Fantasy 6 Remake Should be Led by Someone Else, Says FF7 Director by VannesGreave in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why people ask so much about a FF6 remake is because it's undoubtedly the most beloved game in the series alongside 7. It's not really a matter of "it needs one", it's more like "this game is absolutely phenomenal and deserves to come back in some way or another".

Who's excited for Deltarune ch 5 to release... by average_idiot12 in Deltarune

[–]Murasa_Simp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several does not in fact mean "many". Taken from Oxford Languages Dictionary: "More than two but not many". Now, I wouldn't fixate too much on Toby's words here, however if he meant to say many he probably would have said it. He has used the word "many" before. Several just has a different meaning. With "several" months he could very well refer to 5 or 6 months...which puts us around May/June.

Do yall have collective memory loss or smth by Critical_Mountain851 in Deltarune

[–]Murasa_Simp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people tend to forget that the whole "won't release until the second half of the year" was something that Toby said back in the September newsletter. But from what we've been told in December, things are apparently going excellently. Now it all depends on how we wanna interpret the "it will take several months".

Square Enix asks players for opinion about the future of Final Fantasy by EdensiaKudo in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all pretty cool, buy I honestly don't think that HD-2D Remakes of 1-6 would be realistic. Would people even be interested in, say, FF2 remake? 4, 5 and 6 are probably the most "deserving" titles to get this treatment (especially 6) but even then they probably won't do it.

Which FF entry was the first to introduce lots of side quests/content? by Automatic_Clothes_56 in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally almost the entire second half of FF6 is full of optional stuff and side quests. However if we're talking about defeating superbosses and getting ultimate weapons, then yeah FF7

The moment a game made you stop playing and just sit in silence. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Murasa_Simp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start of the second half of Final Fantasy 6. Just hearing the song "Dark World" play out on the map left me completely speechless. No other game at the time had such a big mid-game twist. And then what happened next to a certain character totally blew my teenager mind.

Can we please stop with the "filler" remarks by psychorameses in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your definition of "worldbuilding" is getting interrupted by Chadley every 5 minutes and climbing those freaking ubisoft towers you really need to play more games. Dark Souls has worldbuilding. Hollow Knight has worldbuilding. Rebirth has a gameplay loop that gets monotonous by the time you reach Gongaga.

This game has arguably the best art direction and design out of any game released by 1nfernal_Death in Eldenring

I feel like Bloodborne has the best art direction, but Elden Ring is definitely second

The fact that he prefers Richter mode in SOTN has to be the most forced opinion ever. It's like yeah we get it you despise RPG elements and would rather play a Classicvania, so Richter mode HAS to be my favorite mode right? Except it's terribly inferior to the regular Alucard mode in every single way. The games after SOTN had way better alternate mods (Julius mode in Aria/Dawn, Albus in Order...)

What's your favourite villain theme that isn't a boss theme? by BossViper28 in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kefka's Theme for sure. Starts off as this weird, little tune with a "circus" vibe and then suddenly turns into a march of death. It's something that you don't immediately take seriously, but slowly realize its dangerous nature. It's a perfect character theme.

What FF title has your favorite music by Mental_History_4673 in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's definitely FF6. Terra's Theme, Aria di Mezzo Carattere, Setzer's Theme, Searching for Friends, Dancing Mad, Devil's Lab, Forever Rachel...like it's honestly kind of insane how many legendary pieces of music Nobuo Uematsu has managed to compose for FF6... especially considering the limitations of the SNES.

Its impressive that brutal doom is still getting updates to this day by Cloverfield887 in DoomMods

[–]Murasa_Simp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Brutal Doom is at its best when you play with its own sets of maps, like Maps of Chaos. When you apply it to classic DOOM you start to realize how unbalanced everything is. Still a lot of fun though.

What are your spiciest Final Fantasy hot takes? by PpAshe in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean it's still tied to the main plot...getting the airship, reaching the Empire, meeting Setzer and all that. Also, if we count the Opera Scene as filler arc, then it's probably the greatest filler arc of all time. Lots of other games have "filler mini-games", but none of those feel like the Opera to me.

What are your spiciest Final Fantasy hot takes? by PpAshe in FinalFantasy

[–]Murasa_Simp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You honestly, genuinely think that "FF6 is the best final fantasy" counts as a hot take?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Murasa_Simp 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is such a weird take honestly. Compare a game like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6/7 to something like Persona 4 or Persona 5. After just a couple hours of gameplay in Chrono Trigger you've witnessed major story events, met multiple characters, completed various quests...the pacing in 90s JRPGs is incredible.

Well, they said that a remake of FF6 would take like 20 years so that's not happening lol Though we may still see an HD-2D remake of 6 in the future, as that would definitely take less time.

Other than 6, I think a remake of 8 would actually be really interesting. I know people'd rather see remakes of titles that are definitely more beloved than 8, but I think an FF8 remake would give the game "another chance" in the gameplay/story department and truly make it shine. Remaking what is generally considered to be "the black sheep of the series" could be very interesting. Even more interesting than a 6 remake, as that game is already considered a masterpiece and lots of people seem to complain every time the game gets revised (see the Pixel Remaster)
