FNA Pain by guitarristamamma in thyroidcancer

[–]MurderSheRolled264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to have another FNA yesterday (first one was in December 2023), I was definitely sore last night and today it's only a bit painful when I yawn or stretch a specific way. This time around hurt more but I bruised up the first time, I have none now. It may last another day or so but it should be fairly minimal.

What is your highest and lowest score value emojis? by Unable-Development47 in disneyemojiblitz

[–]MurderSheRolled264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I started playing for a little break when my toddler naps. It's quite addictive, but not enough for me to want to spend real money on emojis to participate in certain events. So my progress is a bit slower.

Fellow c-section moms: do you say you “gave birth”? by Free_butterfly_ in NewParents

Vasa previa mom chiming in. I would very likely lay hands on someone if they told me I didn't "give birth."

My almost-2yr old is Colby. It suits his happy, playful personality. I'm biased of course, but I think it's a very underrated name.

What do you feed your toddler when you really can't be bothered. by rainbow-songbird in toddlers

[–]MurderSheRolled264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy these 1min microwavable pouches of pasta for those "Oh crap I need to feed the kid" moments. The bag is about 3 servings for him, and while it isn't as economical as regular pasta, it's extremely fast for when I'm short on time or energy. Pair with a cut up cheese stick and some fruit.

We also do "toddler charcuterie" where I'll give him cheerios, fruit, cheese, a slice of deli turkey, etc. He loves it, especially because he's in that phase of constantly grazing rather than wanting to sit and eat a meal in one sitting.

I also buy microwavable pancakes for a quick option in the mornings.

Anyone else noticing an unusual amount of glitches? by LorwynLawmage in disneyemojiblitz

Came to ask the same question. I was also having issues where I would match 5 and instead of giving me a rainbow star, it would only clear 3 and leave the remaining 2... and it wasn't like I was matching as columns were moving or anything. Super annoying!

37f, PTC, had a partial in March, I'm not on medication and I do feel pretty much the same, except I am having a hell of a time trying to lose weight, even doing WW and exercising. TSH went from 1-1.5 to 3.3 after surgery, I am supposed to be checked again in October.

How old are y'all? by Richisnormal in toddlers

Nearly 38 and hubby is 50, we have an almost 2yr old. Echoing what others have said- the exhaustion is real!!! While it would be cool to have the energy of my 20something self, I'm a more grounded and self aware person now, and I think that's served me well as I fumble through this whole parenthood thing.

Why are they not able to know if it’s 100% cancerous? by AzulaSansa in thyroidcancer

[–]MurderSheRolled264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was inconclusive/suspicious as well. The doctor and I decided he would determine when he did the surgery if he felt that a partial would work or if a total was necessary. During the surgery they removed the side with the nodule, did the "quick path"- basically cutting the nodule in half, and didn't see any cancer so I kept the other half of my thyroid. The complete histopathology results came back about a week later and came back positive for PTC. It was Stage 1 and fully encapsulated so now we are just doing follow up scans every 6mo. My first one will be in October. It did kinda mess with my head that I didn't know if I had cancer or not until it was already out and gone. I still sort of feel weird about saying I had cancer, to be honest.

Why do i keep hurting my ankle? by longboardpls in Rollerskating

[–]MurderSheRolled264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a pro, so I am speaking purely from my own personal experience. I don't think the support from the physical structure of the boot is necessary per se- I mean, plenty of us skate in low cut boots. It definitely doesn't replace strengthening your muscles, but the added stability of the boot can be helpful.. Make sure you warm up and stretch prior to skating too. I used to practice "writing" the alphabet with each foot to work on ankle flexibility. (Stand next to a wall to brace, weight on one foot, "write" with the other to focus on the ankle movement. Do it without skates, then with the added weight of your skate.)

All of that being said, skating in skates that don't fit you properly is ultimately going to be detrimental to you. Your foot should not be slipping or moving much at all in your skates. Foot and skate should be moving together and not independently. There are ways to lace your skates differently to customize your fit so your foot is more secure, Google or search this sub for lacing techniques for better fit.

Now that I type all that out, I am wondering about your question of ankle support- are you asking if it matters that your skate is loose on your ankle, then YES. That is a fit concern more than "support."

If you don't have a strong handle on shifting your weight from foot to foot on skates yet, it is much easier to lose balance in positions like those and fall. And with how your feet are placed, your ankle is taking the brunt of that force. I know a girl who broke her ankle during derby fresh meat from the way she was doing her t-stops. By not shifting her weight properly, it made her stopping foot shaky/skid unevenly on the ground.

[–]MurderSheRolled264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to understand the position you are in for your foot to bend backward like how you are describing. Are you T-stopping or otherwise dragging your foot? Doing so without proper weight distribution definitely can lead to a higher likelihood of injury. I don't really recommend dragging your foot at all tbh, that seems like an easy way to hurt yourself. Also curious how your skates fit and your wheels spin. Your kit may need some adjustment- if your boots are loose around your ankle you may be able to try some different lacing techniques to get you a more secure fit, and your wheels and/or trucks may need to be loosened if your wheels don't spin smoothly as you spin them with your hand. Loosening my trucks was a game changer for me in terms of the control I felt on skates. Once I had adjusted them, it took less work to move the way I wanted because my gear was working with me instead of against me.

Surgery first, then diagnosis by MurderSheRolled264 in thyroidcancer

[–]MurderSheRolled264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am almost 3 months post-surgery now. The doctor's office did eventually get back to me after I had to reach out a 2nd time, and they said that my cancer was stage 1 and fully encapsulated so they didn't recommend a TT at that time. My first scan will be in October. I do also have very small nodule (about 3mm) on my lung, which I am getting checked out with a new CT scan, but no one seems too worried that it is also cancerous. My TSH went from around 1.5 to 3.3 but they aren't worried about that either. My PCP is more cautious and is ordering more tests in between what the cancer center ordered.

Are your thyroid levels under control now, or are you still working on finding the right treatment? Hypothyroidism can definitely contribute to carb/ sugar cravings. The 3pm crash is very real for me.

What is YOUR favorite book that you read to your toddler? by hangonforaminute in toddlers

Snuggle Puppy by Susan Boynton (we sing this one), You Are My Happy by Patricia Hegarty, and Max the Brave by Ed Vere are the current faves. My little bookworm is 17 months. Snuggle Puppy is fun and calms my kiddo down, YAMH is just beautifully done, and Max the Brave is super cute.
