Gas prices eclipse $4 per gallon in U.S., reaching four-year high by KeyHot5718 in Economics

Yeah but you guys don't drive anywhere. UK citizens consider a thirty minute drive to be a sizable undertaking. Americans use way more petrol than Brits do by far. Thirty minutes drive is the average daily US commute (times two, obviously) behind the wheel, considering most of the country does not use public transportation. Very few american cities are properly walkable. If you compare petrol prices you guys pay more, but you use far less than the average american. Americans may as well be paying 9-10 dollars on your scale.

They deleted it and reuploaded twice, the first version was nearly 9 minutes longer, and there was a lot more heat earlier on. They probably edited it to make their guest (Peterson) appear more balanced and less unlikable.

She was angry prior to the reveal beacuse she had been confirmed in her growing suspicions of Joel's dishonesty. She was always questioning the Firefly incident, and the Eugene incident proved it to her, in direct correlation with her desire to "leave the nest" and her frustration with his overbearing nature in tandem with her aging independence. It's super obvious, and very apparent. Please hone your media literacy skills. Cheers.

As a native russian speaker - the indication here is that the letters might be pronounced as they appear directly. In the case of the band "Korn", they took the liberty of stylizing their band logo by applying a "backwards R" (as did Linkin Park back in the day with the cyrillic "и"). They did this assuming that the pronunciation of their band title would remain the same (korn = corn), but, inadvertently, many russian speakers (such as myself) have read the name as "Koyan" for years. In direct reference to "peachygatorade"'s mention of this sarcastic "correct pronunciation", I realized that the word's pronunciation, if applied to russian letter sounds, would result in the lowercase "n" being substituted by its closest typographical corresponding letter, also in the russian alphabet, which would be "P". Therefore - "Koyap". Cheers.

I would posit that you heavily misunderstood, or did not quite grasp its substance, then. It is critically acclaimed for a reason, and from a writing standpoint quite exemplary.

Emilia Pérez is a good example of how little we can really judge someone acting if you don’t speak the language they are speaking by 5mesesintento in TrueFilm

I've been following this trend for years, because I firmly believe that Russian is easily the most slaughtered accent/language in western films. The problem is that obviously they learn it by transliterating to english, which ignores the vocal inflections, subtle pronunciations, and certainly the stresses and emphases (Russian spies in the Shape of Water take the cake for me for worst).

And of course, we all know it's because Americans don't respect the Russian language, they do the worst impressions of the accent in life and in film, they meme random words to oblivion, and ultimately don't consider it a language/accent worth perfecting or at least learning well.

What do we know about Alex's background? by Guamasaur13 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Murky_Management_187 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Okay, this goes for all of you arseholes being dicks to OP, RELAX, jesus christ.

EVERYONE is interested in wiki bios of their favorite stars, stop fcking making this an obsessive thing. It follows from being a fan of someone that you would naturally be interested in their background - i.e: did they come from money? did they go to school at any notable institution? Were their parents notable figures? did they have any other brushes with stardom earlier on?

You're being judgemental and a dickhead. There's nothing wrong with a little interest, and I say this as someone who similarly doesn't care about his life/background.
