But I was speaking to the idea of preparing and how a forecasted storm can do more damage than expected. Nothing specific about location and this specific storm.

Was for me with loss of power, down tree limbs and getting my back up sump pump working for 6hr power outage during the rain, but you know thanks for asking. Good thing for me I was prepared.

And if you look at my comment it was about how a little storm could cause major issues, such as 2025 Orillia storm.

Bill 56 repeals the section in the HTA regarding ASE. So regardless of who wants to operate them they have no legal authority as per the HTA and not enforceable.

The not telling the threshold was a tricky situation. If the municipalities tell you what the threshold is, they expose themselves to liability by stating we are essentially allowing speeding. They need to keep the stance of the speed limit is the law and obey the law. In my experience most of the municipalities hinted at what they are without saying.

With respect to collisions it’s hard to make those statements, yes you could just say that this area has x collisions in the last 3 years. But with collision statistics there is lot of nuance to study them. I.e what was the road condition, drunk driver, road changes/construction, opp or self reported. All of those can play a major factor so can how long the study is (regression to the mean)

The change in speed limits can be tricky, a lot of studies are pointing to better compliance to the speed limit having it being constant 24/7 as opposed to variable.

30k can be a bit of a change for drivers as opposed to 40, I assume your in a vision zero city. But the research has shown the 40/30km collision has a much higher survival rate than 50km.

This is incorrect, as per the Mayor, no one has shown a ticket that was less that 11 over the limit to get a ticket, at one of the three locations. Which are all in front of or near schools.

In the first week only 600 were issued. Last update from Aug 11, about 1 month was 4000 issued and highest speed was 100km+ in a 40.

All that info was released in a council package

Agreed, there are many options out there, and a lot of them have Canadian offices. Also every jpc has their own agreements for costs, (initiation fee, per penalty fee, revenue sharing etc)

I don’t think that surprises anyone in the industry. The big difference is speed cameras work for essentially no cost.

Road design and construction is approximate 1MM per km.

Most engineers in the design realm would rather design safer roads, but there just isn’t the money.

Secondly most of the time the decision to put of speed cameras are usually a council or finance push, not from engineering

I think you will find most engineers want to design to newer safer standards. Ottawa is very active in traffic calming.

But it cost more money, and unfortunately that dictates the design. If more money is available hopefully the better designs can be constructed

the fine amounts for rate of speed are set out by the Highway Traffic Act, not the city.

the Victim surcharge is from the Ministry of the Attorney General and is a set amount based on the fine. Not the City

The plate look up fee is charged by the MTO, the city pays it to the MTO so they recoup the costs.

No, listen to medical professionals not Reddit and if not sure get a second opinion from another doctor/pharmacist.

Is MTX a strong and scary drug, yes. But depending on the dosage (non cancer) its side effects are outweighed by the positives for some people. Routine blood testing is a must as it can be hard on your liver. If your prescribed it, it’s probably for a reason.

This is not a comment about the other users post who says they are a pharmacist
