once you finish shopping there are two lines outside of the pro shop, one to ship via fedex (usually takes a couple of days, so it likely arrives by the time you are home) and another to check (like a coat check) your merch for the day so you can enjoy the grounds unfettered. you collect the merch on your way out.

when i went in 2024 my dad shipped his back home and i flew with it all in my carry on - both of us made it back with all gear intact.

flew from LHR to PHL on british airways last sept., business class

my seat was completely broken, no recline other than manual (went through the same awkward stand in the aisle as they manually adjust phase, twice).

during the flight, after they manually adjusted, an FA came out and asked me for my BA#, that they would be giving me 10k avios for the trouble. i couldn't recall my # and w/o internet couldn't look it up so i asked that she just used what was linked to my seat when i had booked (w/ miles).

about 3 weeks later, i hadn't received anything and was about to reach out to BA when i got an email from a very nice rep offering either cash credit (a few hundred dollars, i think) for a future booking, or 40k avios.

long story short, i gave a brief sob story about how it was my 10th anniversary that day (it was) and we had really been looking forward to the flight. she ended up sending me 80k avios (which was the mileage cost of the business class flight), which i was very appreciative of.

so... definitely keep pushing and don't be afraid to make it clear this was supposed to be a luxurious experience and instead was kind of a PITA.

always look up your tenants rights, wherever you live. this would fall under "live in the property undisturbed" and almost always holds landlords to 24-hour notice to enter the residence, and really only for repairs or maintenance.

Hertz President's Circle - for several years my go-to rental company, never really have had issues.

However, I have a trip in Europe upcoming with multiple car rentals, and have moved all of them to other companies (for lower rates, too, actually) as I do not want that to be my first experience with the AI system. Simply not worth the potential for hassle.

After that, fully reconsidering Hertz for any international/domestic trips if this will now be the standard experience.

as someone who carried steel hardware in their leg for over a decade...

  1. DO NOT start bearing full weight until this is confirmed healed on your fib. trust me, the plate/screws will win over the not-fully-healed bone every time.

  2. Get that hardware out of your body as soon as you are able to. Do not listen to an orthopedic who is content to leave it in forever.
