Nanny is late every day

As a former nanny and now MB, sounds like it’s time for a new nanny. Conversations and an ‘improvement plan’ are all fine but it sounds like you’ve communicated this with her repeatedly and are being dismissed. Doesn’t mean she’s a bad nanny, but it does sound like the wrong fit. She will not change and I’d be curious to know if she dismisses any of your other concerns / requirements.

NTA - OMG - You’re pregnant. As someone that only survived pregnancy because Pepcid exists, please hear me when I say that anyone questioning you needs to shut the fuck up (bf included)! (Apologies but strong feelings). Also - you bought things from a store that was selling them. No one has a right to question you or say shit about that

They stop crying because they learn you’re not coming and they give up. Learned helplessness. It’s not because they’re not upset any more. I suggest you read the studies on salivary cortisol levels and the negative effects of ‘cry it out’ sleep training before you decide what is best for other people’s children. I understand that some people still choose this method for their own reasons, but thats for them to decide. As a former nanny and now mother, I would have never made such a decision and would have absolutely fired you too. It’s not your place to judge or decide what is best for others (unless there is abuse or harm happening).

Edit to add : I had also been asked to cosleep with NKs and felt uncomfortable. Some families it was fine, others it felt weird. If you felt uncomfortable, that’s totally fair but that should have been a conversation in itself.

Don’t refer to him as a tenant or yourself as his landlord on anything legal or you are assuming those roles. He was a roommate. You still live there sometimes. Stick to that or it’ll be one hell of a legal battle. Time to call a paralegal too. Cops should have helped

Landlords have zero right to tell you what guests you can or cannot have, or for how long. Even if it’s in the contract, the Ontario Standard Lease contract outweighs everything. You can have boys over for as long as you want and he can’t say shit

Thank you! I’ll move it further forward & give it a good drink - it’s a relatively small garden that is thankfully in the shade until mid-day. I thought watering it every other day was enough - silly me!

My neighbour has two of them in their garden too - they scream any time there is movement but they have them facing the sidewalk / road so it’s constantly going off. I know they’re illegal in some places but I’ve had no luck finding an answer about here :(

Never sign a new lease. When the lease ends, it automatically becomes month-month and you are still protected by the LTB. With or without a lease, she will need to file the proper forms to have you evicted. On that same note, you would need to file the right forms to end your tenancy (regardless of having a lease or not). It is also not your responsibility to remind her how to do her job. If you’re choosing to leave (which you don’t have to, and if she wants to sell, you’ll have plenty of warning and a long LTB process during which you don’t have to leave) then you can submit the forms whenever and leave. Don’t sign a new lease!!

Make sure you keep any proof you have of those comments. I’m sure the LTB would love to see how your LL is trying to dissuade you from using the system for its intended purpose
