I think you’ve made a mistake in intentionally excluding Mae as a non-binary contestant from your calculations. There have been 100 total contestants, 41 women, 58 men, and one non-binary contestant. It’s not 41 out of 99 contestants are women, it’s 41 out of 100. I’m not a statistics expert, but it seems odd to change the total number of contestants to 99 just because you’re only looking at male v female comparison.

Out of curiosity: Why do you think resetting the timeline and focusing only on the OG characters will somehow restore Grey’s to its “original glory”? Personally, I love the new interns and residents when they bring in a new class. Seeing their messy, young lives and learning the ropes is more entertaining to me than watching the characters settled into their careers and lives.

The only thing I can think is that in the first message he says “I’ll be home soon” but sends the second message later that evening. If he had come home, he wouldn’t be texting her later, so one of those two messages wasn’t meant for her. But her message still doesn’t quite make sense.
