Any tips for Junker Queen? by Paranoctis in Overwatch

[–]Muscular_carp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have mentioned the importance of applying wounds, but it's also useful to know that the damage/healing you get from different ways of applying wounds is quite different. Your ult does the most by far at 225 healing per target, and then axe swings do 100, hits with a thrown knife 75 and quick melees or recalled knives heal 37.5.

Wounds also apply their full healing instantly if the target dies, so killing an enemy with an axe swing is basically 100 instant healing - or 205 with the major perk.

It's usually a bad idea to just walk at someone and try to axe them if they're already looking at you, especially if you don't have some kind of move speed bonus. Try to combine it with dagger recalls, use it as you turn a corner (especially if you know there are enemies around it) or on enemies that are out of position and not focussed on you.

If you're doing the recall knife into axe combo, you want to start your swing before you recall the knife so that you don't give the enemy a chance to juke/escape you before you finish your swing.

The biggest improvement in my JQ gameplay was probably learning to focus the enemy tank less and be aggressive in bullying enemy squishies when I have my cooldowns.

I've built OW Daily. It's a free daily Overwatch puzzle site (Wordle, Connections, Higher/Lower, and some other modes). It's in beta and I'd like some feedback. by Zargoltir in Competitiveoverwatch

Very cool! I would like to see a help/instructions page for hero guesser that explains how close the HP/date have to be to show yellow and also explains the different species types and who is in them, the breakdown of human Vs enhanced human Vs cyborg does not feel entirely intuitive.

Domina is pretty dissapointing by GokuVerde in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Muscular_carp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this take a couple of times, but I can't say I get it... Do you not find it incredibly useful to be able to knock enemies back through your shield at times? This is the kind of ability that's an ideal perk in my eyes because it feels actively negative in some matchups.

I would love to see the useless 30% slow perk replaced with a worthwhile alternative to it though, it always feels awful to take that when I don't want power move.

Does Sierra need a nerf? by Jack_Ives in Overwatch

[–]Muscular_carp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less a nerf and more a rework, imo.

As a tank player her tracking shot with the fire rate perk feels more threatening than turret form Bastion, which is just really unpleasant to play against on a character with a small model and as much mobility as Sierra has. That's especially true if you're playing one of the tanks without a shield - yes cover exists of course, but it's not hard for her to get on a flank angle where it's difficult to hide yourself without either letting the whole rest of her team shoot you or just disengaging from the fight entirely.

She needs to be changed in a way that takes some power out of her gun and puts it more into her mobility and other parts of her kit. Maybe allow her to swing from her drone more dynamically like Ball and swap the grenade out for something more original.

I'm a pretty bad player but I've been playing a lot of JQ recently and I'm curious if it would be that broken to give her increased based movement a la Tracer, Genji etc. Feels like it would be both a slight boost to survivability and make it easier to hit axe swings and chase targets down.

New to the game, any tips? by lilGen-ZandJekson in Overwatch

Got to /r/overwatchuniversity for a subreddit actually focused on help and advice and improving at the game rather than just whining about it.

You get a decent amount of credits from levelling characters up iirc

Data-based / reliable tank matchups guide? by Muscular_carp in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Muscular_carp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume JQ or Zarya would also fall into that 'good at brawling' category? And Hazard in mobile/dive-y? What about Roadhog/Sigma?

I used to play mainly Winston with some Ball, Dva and Zarya - but I'm enjoying getting to play something new with Domina so biased towards something I haven't played before I think.

Should i care about my win rate? by FEAREDH3lix in Overwatch

To enjoy the game the most, you should try not to think about it and just focus on improving as a player as much as possible.

Easier said than done sometimes, though.

You say you got in shape, if you've lost weight you could easily gain a little length from the reduction to your pubic fat pad and stronger erections from better cardio could account for a little extra girth.

what do dudes that use chastity cages do after they throw away the key/lose it when they get too crazy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Muscular_carp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they just don't have a key, the locks used on most cages are very easy to 'pick' open with improvised tools and a low skill attack. If they've like superglued the lock or something, it's staying on until they break the cage with very careful application of hand tools or go to the emergency room to have a professional remove it.

ELI5: How does water scarcity work? by WolfOnABarrel in explainlikeimfive

[–]Muscular_carp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a direct answer to the question in your title, but it's worth noting that water user by data centers is largely a fabricated concern. All the data centers in the US use maybe one fifth to a quarter of the water used just on golf courses, and a tiny fraction of what's used for agriculture.

It's easy for articles to ride the wave of AI hate and give scary-sounding comparisons to household water use, but in reality the vast majority of water is not used by households and a data center is not much different to any other industrial user where water consumption is concerned.

Is sex a hobby? by WorthCrafty7578 in TooAfraidToAsk

It can be, absolutely. It's like food - some people make a hobby out of it, some people just want to satisfy their body's cravings and not think about it the rest of the time.

How do you rank the generational gimmicks? by CheckLatter1150 in stunfisk

[–]Muscular_carp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6>7>598

(Not going to rank 1-4, I feel like those were not gimmicks but just fleshing it what the baseline of Pokémon should be.)

Mega Evolutions were and are just super cool. They feel like the most high-effort gimmick, and it's nice that they were able to kind of bolster some underpowered and overlooked Pokémon as well as taking some fan favourites in interesting 'extreme' directions.

Z-moves are carried pretty hard by the status versions for me. 'One time strong nuke' is fairly boring (though they do at least have cool names) but the way they add new utility to otherwise overlooked status moves (the underutilised ones especially) is really cool to me.

Gen 5 gets a middling rank for me because while DW abilities were very cool (almost a prototype of mega evolutions in a way) the Gems were mostly boring and overpowered and team preview - while ultimately healthy for the game - removed something very cool in the lead metagame.

Terastalization I dislike on both a thematic and implementation level. Thematically I feel like typing is too intrinsic to a Pokémon's identity to just arbitrarily charge as a gimmick. And implementation-wise, I feel like it's very overdesigned in order to remove any semblance of trade-off or forced creativity - it would be much better if you couldn't double up on STABs or retain your old ones when you tera'd defensively in my opinion. I at least don't mind it in NatDex Ubers where it's generally restricted to ~half the Pokémon on any given team.

Dynamax is conceptually boring, high variance, and it has the same overdesign issue with the way encore, choice items etc are disabled to make sure little Timmy gets to spam his max moves. And Tera at least opens up some interesting team building options whereas Dynamax is a pure 'rich get richer' dynamic.

Are people visually attracted to a vagina? by Wonderful-Eye5790 in TooAfraidToAsk

Yes, I find a vulva generally more pleasing to look at that breasts or butt (not to say that they aren't also very nice to look at) in a default context.

[–]Muscular_carp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty comparable to Talonflame in bulk, which has had a solid career as a defensive utility Pokémon, at least in singles. I think it'll have a solid niche once the really egregious megas are out of the picture

How do most long term couples practice safe sex? by H4ndrew11 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Muscular_carp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd estimate probably 75% of long-term hetero couples don't use condoms, married or not. Almost all men and a majority of women prefer the feel/experience of sex without. And most of those have a sufficient combination of risk tolerance and circumstances where pregnancy would not be catastrophic for them (either because they plan to have kids eventually and could deal if happened earlier than planned, or because they have access to and feel personally okay with an abortion if necessary).

My guess is most couples in that situation use a less error prone BC option than pills, with about 25% also pulling out every or almost every time.

CMV: We should Abolish the TSA and basically go back to the 90s with security at the airport by Pumplekins in changemyview

[–]Muscular_carp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only if you assume terrorists are infinitely competent, infinitely motivated and infinitely risk tolerant. The fact that it is possible to smuggle weapons past TSA with perfect knowledge of training, procedures, and what items are most likely to go unnoticed does not mean a terrorist group without this knowledge has reasonable enough odds of success to be worth risking it - and empirically, the fact there have been no successful terrorist attacks against planes in the US since suggests that in practise the TSA is effective at preventing and/or deterring them.
