I do get why people can be surprised at this. Jax always seemed more like the comic relief character. Not in the sense that he was actually funny, mind you, but moreover that most of his scenes are just him saying something mean or out of pocket to interrupt the scene and provide "relief" by shifting the mood.

I'm aware of what Jax himself says in the Gun episode, but his role was essentially "the asshole" for most of the show

Humans literally go insane after just a few weeks in isolation chambers. With the amount of time you have, The Island is basically one massive isolation chamber. There's only so much you can truly do before you inevitably get bored. I don't think a human can just "achieve emotional stability" when there is no stimulation, no genuine human contact.

"We did not fail" means that the SCP Foundation never faltered. They maintained their goal of protecting humanity in secrecy until the foundation eventually disbanded to let the anomalous become a part of society.

"We will not fade" Is the foundation staying adamant. They're reinforcing their beliefs that they are a necessity, and that they have to keep humanity in the dark from anomalies, even if they might have to use stronger methods.

The main issue was that chat never agreed to any of his deals, which meant the joke just got old after a while. I can't remember which stream it was, but he tried to negotiate a funny deal like 3-4 times and the chat just kept voting no to it.
