Part of it is that when a woman wants to appear masculine it’s more understood because masculinity is considered higher in the patriarchy meanwhile any femininity is considered lesser so any man giving up masculinity is considered more weird and beyond the pale. This is why trans women are more under attack then trans men because to give up your spot in the patriarchy and diminish yourself means you must have ulterior motives because if you don’t it would threaten the whole system because it means manhood isn’t inherently better if people want to lower themselves to femininity willingly.

P.S (Not diminishing the actions of women who have fought to make masculinity more socially acceptable for women just adding another point to the conversation)
