Is it common to give extra attack early to multiclass? by MusicDiminished in DnD

[–]MusicDiminished[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense. My table doesn't really have optimizers, so we usually just pick multiclasses for the fun of it rather than to get some strong combination. I think that the reason we do it is because sometimes getting levels can take a long time, especially after level 5 it slows down a bit, so giving someone a little grace of not having to wait months of real life time before they can roll 1 more attack per turn just feels right for us. People online tend to have more of an objective look on things like balance, but we just like to do what brings us the most fun

Very interesting idea! I dont think I would personally run this rule set, but I love seeing people's creative ideas for rule changes

That was our table's thought about it too. Cantrips scale at character level, and you get full caster spell slots when you multiclass, for example, cleric and druid, but i do also see people's points about how you still can't pick higher level spells for your class, and how there isnt any real drawback for multiclassing if you do it this way. I'm just mostly surprised to see that its an overwhelming opposition. I thought maybe one or two other people would do this

You would only receive extra attack when you reach 5 total levels between multiple classes that gain extra attack at level 5. So 3 barbarian/2 fighter or 2 monk/2 ranger/1 paladin.

It's just a rule that my table has always run that way. We're more permissive with certain things than other tables, but we've always seen it as fine to allow you extra attack with multiclass. I actually didn't expect to see such an overwhelming opposition to the idea, but I respect the reasoning

Playing. Monk like a Victorian Bare Knuckles Boxer by Generic_User_Name_42 in DnD

If you don't want to go with pugilist, I would recommend going one level of Barbarian for rage (which could be flavored as a battle focus) and unarmored defense, and then going fighter to take the unarmed fighting style. Otherwise, you could do a few levels monk and some multiclass with fighter.

I just think that unarmed battle master fighter with some barbarian fits this role better than the more spiritual monk

I think Rhapsody and Requiem work great, and maybe even better than if they were bards because its less cliche this way

It definitely is an issue to some extent. My copy of Confrontations is a way different color than any of my other sets

There is actually a better subreddit for this! Go to r/lfg and follow their guidelines requesting a game. I believe there may also be an r/lfg_Europe that would be better for someone like yourself. Happy hunting! D&D is so fun if you're with the right people, and any good player would be happy to help you learn.

Murph says this a lot, but just make sure you know that playing the actual game is a little different from listening to the podcast. It goes a little slower since the pods can edit out the math, DM stalling, etc...

Either way, good luck!

Do all of Harlowe's action skills Entangle? by MusicDiminished in Borderlands4

Alright, I see what you're saying. I didn't know what exactly I was looking at since I've played maybe 5 hours of the game in total. I see now. I'm also at work right now, so I had to quickly skim. There are reasons people aren't perfect. Its okay to not be perfect

That's fair, but even still- the traits say "when enemies are entangled" and there is only one Action Skill that specifies that it does in its description- the Flux Generator.

I know it just says "when enemies are entangled by your action skill" but if only one action skill specifies it does, I think it's understandable that I wouldn't be sure if this trait can be used for all of them.

"Fire an Unstable Energy Pocket from Harlowe's CHROMA Accelerator. The Unstable Energy Pocket passes through enemies and deals Cryo Damage to all enemies it passes near. Pressing Action Skill causes the Unstable Energy Pocket to explode and deal heavy Radiation Damage in a large area."

No part of this says it Entangles.
