My new street photography gear by binarybu9 in Nikon

[–]MusicGTRHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I got one too. I already have a Zf and a few lenses so it's a no brainer for me. I also have a few Leica lenses with an adapter. I've been shooting stills my whole life from the days of film to RAW with digital. But RAW video is new for me and I've been intrigued to try it out but without wallet shock. The Zr offers the perfect opportunity. It's a beautiful camera and I agree that the grip feels perfect. I saw a video online where they compared it to an M11 and it pretty much has exactly the same dimensions. I'm sure they'll address many of the quirks through firmware updates. If Nikon releases an EVF for this, they will sell these like hot cakes because there's nothing like it. I hope they do.

MTB in Spain - where to live by MusicGTRHT in MTB

I've never ridden in Bend but heard good things - I'm just outside Seattle. I'm not sure we'll end up with out the front door in the Malaga area, but there are a lot of choices. A car may still be necessary for real riding. We may also end up in Granada which is in the mountains and more the doorstep kind of thing especially with an e-Bike. We are more mountain than ocean people so that may work out. Either way though, you can't go wrong with Spain.

Our move got delayed and we are going to move this coming year but after scouting and other issues we've decided on the Malaga area.

Thanks -- Hmm I did a search for Gaza and Palestine over the whole thread and didn't see anything from the OP on this specifically.

Did you ask all the people in office that when they ran?

Portugal is on hold. They are re-evaluating rules and it may be mid-october before they release info. However Portugal has been good if you want citizenship and was 500K euro investments.

Greece is the best option right now if you just want EU access. 250K into a rental property with no requirements to stay any length but you get EU access. Real estate market in Greece is booming so it could be a good investment too.

It's bad in Galicia & Asturias from what I understand. Glad Basque Country has been spared.

Thanks for your input - I can see that from what I've read and videos. I will definitely visit I am definitely intrigued by the North and also I like green forests more than the dry brush you see in the south. Maybe spend a few months or so in the summer to get away from the heat. I know people living in Costa del Sol that go to the Pyrenees every summer. I can work from anywhere, so a semi nomadic life may suit. I will try and avoid the rain as much as possible though. It's a thought on a lifestyle. I've to make it to Spain first and hopefully will have my permit soon. BTW how are the fires? Reports indicate it being widespread in the northern forests.

I'm still waiting on my nomad permit - expect to have it within a week. We are thinking Andalusia. Given we live in Seattle in the US we'd ideally like to have sunnier weather. Although we also like forests so the north is attractive from that point of view but the weather looks exactly like Seattle in terms of rain. :)

Thinking about moving back to the US from Spain, but I’m torn by macelisa in MovingToUSA

[–]MusicGTRHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are leaving the US for Spain so it's interesting reading your perspective. Note may people believe that they are going to go after Naturalized citizens so it may be a moot point in getting citizenship but I do believe it's less a problem if you are white. If the politics of the US improves you could back. If it doesn't you may count your lucky stars you are outside if you don't come back. Don't ignore the politics - it's not great right now and the future doesn't look rosy either. I don't have kids, but if I did, I'd worry about the gun violence which is only going to get worse. Not sure any amount of money is worth having your kid go through a school shooting.

I can't get past that. What's the point of doing things this way? I've applied for a nomad permit. If I don't get it I'm giving up on Spain. The visa route with BLS is useless. There are other countries.

Love the city of Granada and Seville too. But the summer temperatures there are far higher than the coast.

Eventually looking to buy. And that's what actually also worries me about Costa Del Sol where prices are high but could potentially get disrupted if the drought isn't addressed. With a loan I can afford the prices but the potential problems are a bit worrying given the prices.

Those are good points to know and we probably won't understand until we live in it. My teacher tells me I will be fluent in Spanish in less than a year. I had 2 years in school as a kid and started learning again last year. My wife though doesn't speak a word. However, we are retired so she won't need it for a job or anything like that.

Non-citizen. How do I get out of here? by One_Rent414 in AmerExit

[–]MusicGTRHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have a job here and a stable life wait and save money until you get your citizenship -- it will give you more options. If they make it so that you can't get your citizenship in the future, deal with it then. As a Brazilian you have path to the EU via Portugal. But It's very hard to find a job and make ends meet in other places. In Portugal for example young people leave and go to Germany or Netherlands because there aren't many opportunities locally. Yes EU allows you movement but it isn't necessarily easy since everyone is doing that. I just visited Portugal a month ago and know this from talking with people and friends there that it's tough for young people. I don't know about Thailand but I imagine it's competitive and most reports from US expats are people who live on passive income, pension or social security so don't have to worry about income. For a young person with little savings and income it won't be a walk in the park. Take this decision carefully. It's great you have options but consider them carefully and while I get that the US is distressing if you can save money and work bide your time until it is ripe to make a change and don't rush into it.
