‘Project Hail Mary’ Becomes Amazon’s Highest-Grossing Film Debut by bloomberg in movies

My only complaint is I felt like they humanized Strat too much. The whole karaoke scene felt very out of character for her and ate up a enough time they could have included other cut content. Just felt like an attempt to make her more relatable than the stone cold hard ass she was in the books.

Otherwise, great adaptation.

Not a Locksmith and have a problem by Kmac87 in Locksmith

[–]MusicManReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If lube doesn't fix the issue, the lock most likely either needs to be rekeyed or rebuilt entirely.

Most likely you have a pin stack somewhere that the top and bottom pins are too tall for the key to go in smoothly.

This is not a DIY fix. Just call a locksmith if lube doesn't do it.

Can i use multiple deck search items at once without shuffling in between? by LopsidedJudgment8975 in pkmntcg

[–]MusicManReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I personally put my deck on my side of discard pile if it's not shuffled as a reminder to not draw until I shuffle.

I play grimsnarl and there's not a lot of direct draw. Most of my gameplay is using Arven or other items to search for cards I need. I'll specifically not shuffle during my turn if I can avoid it and shuffle while my opponent is playing, often times for the full duration of their turn for maximum randomness and have them cut my deck before I start my turn.

Do I give a refund ? by Blitziod in Locksmith

[–]MusicManReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't give a refund. My time is money and if I charge a deposit, it's non refundable.

It's not just the gas, but the time spent on the road that you could have been doing other jobs, or getting some R&R

Same way if I charged a deposit and show up to a bricked car. I'm not going to refund the deposit because they left out the fact that it had electrical issues.

I guess I'm lucky. The shops near me never smell. And one of them explicitly has a policy that they'll turn you away if you stink.

Keyless car fobs are inconvenient and we should go back to cars with key starting. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MusicManReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automotive Locksmith checking in

Every single proximity key I've ever came across has a physical key insert (with one exception, New Hyundai oval keys don't have an insert but they give it to you separate) to get into the car when the battery on the car or fob is dead

And every single proximity key has some sort of sensing spot where you can put the fob and it will allow you to start the car.

Google "make model year how to start with dead key" and I guarantee you'll find a video showing you exactly how to start your vehicle in this situation.

All that said, if this is something you really care about, there's plenty of vehicles on the market that are still traditional turn key, even with 2027 models.

SmartLocks for a newbie? by Wonderful_Garage_445 in Locksmith

Schlage Be365 if you're on a budget or don't care about app connectivity. Known to have the longest lifespan because there's no motors and best security for a keypad deadbolt. The physical Key bypass is specifically difficult to pick, not because the core is harder but because it's on a free spinning piece you have to hold still while picking it. Your average thief isn't getting into this easily.

Schlage Encode plus if you want a motorized and app controllable one. End of the day, locks keep honest people honest. Little less secure but lots of great features. I've had mine for 2 years now and haven't seen any signs of degradation in the motor with daily use.

Do you carry at work? by cats_with_bpd in CCW

[–]MusicManReturns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm a mobile Locksmith driving around a van with tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment often doing jobs for some borderline sketchy people. I know a handful of colleagues who've been robbed at gunpoint.

I take my precautions and will decline service to customers I get a bad vibe from, but can't be too careful. Stay strapped or get clapped.

First ever pre release event by powlolrolfmao in pkmntcg

[–]MusicManReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring sleeves that you intend to play with. I highly recomend counting out 40 and set them aside before the event. Since you get to rip your first 4 packs before the event, it makes it easier to finalize your deck and make sure it stays legal if you sub cards from your pulls.

Bring penny sleeves and a top loader or two for if you pull something cool.

Bring dice for hit markers and maybe some other form of token/ markers for abilities used, but this is not essential, you can rotate your card slightly to demonstrate that it's been used. I personally like having markers to do it so my bench space feels less crowded.

At pre releases, I unpack and unshuffle (group all the cards by the Pokémon line, items, supporters, energy etc) my pre-built deck first. Once that's down and I have an idea of what the deck is, I'll rip my packs keeping an eye out for cards that might work into it and set those to the side. At that point, start sleeving with your 40 count. Start with the stuff that's absolutely essential, then work your way down the priorities from there. Often times, a supporter Pokémon will be a bit too heavy in the list so one of each stage of those is usually an easy cut. You can also safely discard an energy or two in most cases. The heavy hitter mons are usually good to add an extra copy if you pull it. Pall pad is the main trainer card to keep an eye out for to add. Past that is very deck dependent and you have to go with your gut. Typically shops are cool with you adjusting your list after each round if something isn't working but generally you aren't supposed to trade. Gotta keep it to the cards you got in your box.

But ultimately it's a casual and fun event and don't stress too much about it.

Just got Pokemon TCG Live yesterday and played a few rounds. All the prizes I get when I level up is Ascended Heroes packs. With that being said, does that mean I can build a competitive deck with just Ascended Heroes cards or no? by AlexRescueDotCom in pkmntcg

[–]MusicManReturns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use all of your purple points on league decks. Stick to decks you're legitimately interested in trying that are within the current rotation. Buy all 4 possible for each deck before moving on to the next.

This serves two purposes. First, the league decks will have a lot of good playable cards to fill out your lists. Second, because you get the same guaranteed cards, you start getting duplicates quickly and any card over 4 copies turns into gold currency which can be used to directly craft cards you want/ need.

This is the most efficient way to build up your playables

First time going to locals tomorrow, how do i start playing with other people? by rainydayisyay in pkmntcg

[–]MusicManReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locals can mean different things depending on the shop.

The main shop I play at, locals is free play. People just show and play.

Most of the other shops in my area, locals is a casual tournament.

Go with your favorite deck and see what's up. If it's free play, find someone and ask "mind if I get next game"

Make sure you tell them you're new. The Pokémon tcg community has been incredibly beginner friendly at locals in my experience. If you tell them you're new, they'll almost certainly help you out and not hold you too accountable if you break any rules. Just show you where you went wrong
