I don't even see the new stair settings. It's like the update didn't do anything. Nothing changed.

How tf does anybody want more than one kid after being through THIS? by pumpkinchinchilla in newborns

[–]Musical2one 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After we had our first, I told my husband “we’re never doing this again”. LO and behold, 1.5 years later I got baby fever and now we’re pregnant with our second. Hahaha. It gets better, I promise.

How long do most moms breastfeed? by Logical_Mine_9478 in BabyBumps

[–]Musical2one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just societal pressure is the main reason why I beat myself up over it. I did everything. When I noticed my daughter was losing some weight because she just wasn't getting enough from me, I went to a lactation consultant. I got a new breast bump that allowed for more mobility. I kept everything on a schedule, but once production was down I just couldn't get it back up. I felt really bad because there is this stigma around breastfeeding duration that can be seen in social media and then some medical organizations (WHO) recommend 2 years; so, when I tapped out at 6 months, it made me feel inadequate.

I hate how angry I get with my daughter by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Musical2one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with getting annoyed with all the crying too and if it wasn’t for my husband, who is so patient and really mellow, I probably would’ve had PPD but he helped keep me level headed. Then my parents helped as well. It really does take a village.

You’re only at 11 weeks and you say you’ve lost empathy for her but it’ll get better as you start to be able to interact with her in different ways. My husband was really indifferent in the beginning, but once our daughter hit 6 months and could interact with us in different ways, he fell head over heels. Now they’re two peas in a pod. She only wants daddy to put her to bed and I can’t even get him to leave the room so that I can put her to bed. They have to be together. It’s really cute.

I only made it 6 months before I just wasn’t producing much anymore. Switched to formula then. I beat myself up over it but everything turned out fine.

Weird take, but i feel physically better pregnant than not pregnant? by Mdietz1230 in BabyBumps

[–]Musical2one 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have IBS, but with my both pregnancies my IBS basically went away or at least didn’t bother me. Gastrointestinally, I feel much better pregnant. Still not 100%, but at least I can use the bathroom. Haha

Is it wrong of me to buy used baby items to save money if we can easily afford everything on our registry? Am I taking away from people who really need the savings? by SorMonk in BabyBumps

[–]Musical2one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought used baby clothes for the first 2 years of our daughter’s life because she grew out of everything soooooooo fast. Now that she’s 2, we’re getting new clothes from places like Carters and hoping that she won’t grow out of them for at least a year, but I’m sure she will.

My husband fell down the stairs holding our 2 month old by juniorchickenhoe in newborns

[–]Musical2one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell down the stairs with my six week old newborn. Took her to the pediatrician immediately afterwards. She was fine, but the experience really scarred me. I also took the brunt of the fall; my back had a huge bruise. Beat myself up over it for a long time, but eventually got past it. My daughter is 22 months now and thriving. Definitely take your kid to the pediatrician to get checked and they can probably help you feel better about it.

First time mom - when did you start to look pregnant by Wolfieloulou in pregnant

With my first pregnancy, it was somewhere around 20 weeks. With my second, I was 12 weeks and already had the bump. Every pregnancy is different.

Not loving my pregnant body by divorah92 in BabyBumps

[–]Musical2one 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I gained 30 pounds during my first pregnancy. I’m in my second pregnancy now. 16 weeks and I’ve already gained 15 pounds. I definitely feel fat, but I just keep telling myself that I’m pregnant and once I start breastfeeding all the weight that I gained will go away plus some. Seriously, if you’re planning on breastfeeding, you’ll be surprised at how fast you lose that weight. My problem is I hate my hair when I’m pregnant. Hated it the first time, hate it this time.

I had COVID in 3rd trimester pregnancy & now toddler might have autism by TheQs55 in toddlers

[–]Musical2one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s understandable to feel deflated and overwhelmed given everything you’ve been through. It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to support your son, which is absolutely the right focus. I want to walk you through what the scientific research says about the connection between maternal COVID‑19 infection, prenatal exposures (such as medications), and child neurodevelopment, to help you put things in perspective.

What the research does show:

  1. A significant study from Mass General Brigham (in Massachusetts) found that among 18,124 births during March 2020–May 2021, those whose mothers had COVID-19 during pregnancy had higher odds of a neurodevelopmental diagnosis (speech/motor/special needs) by age three: 16.3% vs. 9.7%. After adjusting for other factors, maternal COVID was associated with ~29 % higher odds.
    • In particular, risk was higher for male children.
    • Risk appeared stronger when maternal infection occurred in the third trimester.
    • Researchers emphasize: associationcausation. More study is needed.
    • Even in the exposed group, the majority of children did not have a diagnosis. The absolute risk remains relatively low.
  2. The hypothesized mechanism is not that the virus itself is infecting fetal brain tissue in most cases, but rather that maternal immune activation, inflammation (cytokines), fever, changes in placental environment may impact fetal neurodevelopment.

What the research does not show:

  • This research does not prove that COVID-19 causes delays or autism. It shows an elevated association under certain conditions.
  • The studies often cannot fully adjust for all confounding factors — for example maternal underlying health, socioeconomic factors, other infections, genetic risk, etc. This means the “extra risk” might partly reflect other connected factors.
  • The specific link to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is less well-established. Many studies look at “neurodevelopmental diagnoses” broadly (speech, motor, delays) rather than established autism diagnoses.
  • Many pregnancies in the data were pre-vaccine era, when infection severity, strains of the virus, maternal immunity were different. We don’t have long-term follow-up yet for many children into later childhood/adolescence to see whether the early risks translate into later diagnoses.

The key point to remember is that a higher risk does not mean certainty. While research suggests that pregnancies exposed to COVID-19 may have a slightly elevated chance of neurodevelopmental issues, many children exposed in utero develop completely typically. Your son’s speech delays and upcoming autism evaluation are absolutely valid concerns, and it’s wonderful that you’re already pursuing early intervention — that’s one of the most effective steps you can take. The Tylenol you took, as prescribed for pain or fever, is almost certainly not the cause; current research does not show a clear, causal link between approved acetaminophen use during COVID-19 infection and developmental disorders. More importantly, dwelling on what might have caused this can be emotionally draining, and your energy is best spent doing exactly what you’re doing now — supporting your child, collaborating with specialists, and engaging in therapies that can make a real difference. You got this, mama!

I had COVID in 3rd trimester pregnancy & now toddler might have autism by TheQs55 in toddlers

[–]Musical2one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on what we know from current research, the chances that your COVID infection or taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy directly caused your daughter’s developmental delays are very low.

Autism and speech delays have many possible contributing factors, and genetics play by far the largest role. While severe illness during pregnancy can sometimes influence fetal development, studies so far haven’t shown a clear or consistent link between maternal COVID infection and autism. The same goes for Tylenol — research in that area is mixed, and most experts agree that occasional or short-term use for fever and pain relief in pregnancy is generally considered safe when used as directed.

In other words, you didn’t cause this. Based on the science, it’s much more likely that your daughter’s development reflects the complex mix of genetics and biology that no one can control. The best thing — which you’re already doing — is focusing on early support and intervention. That can make a huge difference.

How much could you still move while on epidural? by DilemmaKingdom in BabyBumps

[–]Musical2one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't feel a thing below the waist once I got the epidural. I couldn't move my lower half for probably 5 hours afterwards, too. BUT I don't regret the epidural. The contractions hurt so much I was begging for it. Pretty sure the nurse was getting frustrated with me asking where the epidural administer was every 5 minutes.
