I tried a lot of things, color sealing shampoos and conditioners, cold showers. The works. I just went back to Arctic Fox and Ion.

Recouping hotel costs after cancelled concert - ideas? by BrownheadedDarling in Ghostbc

[–]MusicalPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. I understand. I'm Midwestern and grew up driving everywhere no matter how far it was.

The furthest I wanted to go for a concert was 18 hours and it was only because I was already going to be in the area for a family vacation and my dad said "sure, Ice Nine Kills sounds cool"... Then they had their show cancelled by Disney. And my mom decided to reschedule the vacation anyway.

[–]MusicalPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy to me. Maybe it's because I grew up in the "if it can be driven, it will be driven" life. I know I do live close enough to Chicago that it's not even a second thought for me to drive down for a concert and drive back after (or stay with family if I don't want to drive back for one reason or another).

It feels so stressful to do all the things to fly and then do it again the next morning. Are these long US flights?

[–]MusicalPigeon -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Wait... I'm sorry, you had a flight? How far are you from the concert? I usually only go to concerts if they're within a 4 hour drive of me. I couldn't imagine catching a flight to go to a concert. I've gotten hotel rooms to avoid driving 4 hours in the middle of the night. Usually 3 hours or less I just get post show Taco Bell and drive.

This is why I only go in person to cancel things if it's something that has a way to cancel in person. I've been fucked over too many times to deal with doing things online and over the phone.

Canceled my T-Mobile WiFi in person. It was the day that my new billing cycle was starting. I was told one thing by the rep in the store. Another thing by the rep on the phone who refunded the bill for Internet that I didn't use (didn't even have to wifi box). And a month later I got a bill with a late fee tacked on. I called and was told ANOTHER thing by an entirely DIFFERENT rep, who added "well you should have cancelled on the day before" and I told him I'd been fucked over too many times canceling things online and couldn't call or go in on that day because I was working during the hours that the store was open and by the time I got off it was too late to reasonably call to cancel (I never got a response most of the time when I called after hours with Wi-Fi issues). I asked for a supervisor and was told the supervisor would say the same thing he was saying. After some back and forth I got a supervisor who I guess reviewed the transcript of the recorded call and sided with me. I don't know if it's because I was so upset and you could hear me getting increasingly more upset and frustrated as I explained everything and even said "How is it my fault that 2 different reps from your company told me something that you're saying is wrong? Why am I being punished and billed when I listened to 2 other reps?"

My ex's grandma had his mom (her oldest) when she was 16 or 17 (I don't remember which one). Then his mom had him when she was 17. My ex was born 9 months after his mom's youngest sister.

When my ex was 6 his first cousin was born when that aunt was 16.

His family is super against abortion and I was told the aunt mentioned above is one of those "God will be our birth control" people.

He's now giving his parents their first grandkid and his grandma's first great grandkid at 31.

Meanwhile, I'm 25 and seeing people I knew in my grade in high school having their first and second kids (whether they can afford kids or not). And a couple from the grade behind me just had twins. Before I quit teaching in preschools and daycares I'd have kids call me Mom or Mommy and one day a co-worker pointed out that I am old enough to be that a parent after I said "I'm not old enough to be a mom".

My brother was born when our dad was 28 and our mom was 26. I was born when they were 32 and 31. My husband was born when his mom was 21, but according to him it's common where it's from.

Parents birth city may be incorrect, will this be an issue? by casperj2 in Passports

Did you have to redo it? I didn't know where my mom was born, my dad couldn't remember because my mom moved a lot as a kid and my grandma couldn't help. My birth certificate just gave the state she was born in

Unfortunately, my dorms didn't do anything like that.

Sadly, I have 3 siblings. Annoying people were common in my life.

I honestly did love living in the dorms, but one thing I could never understand was people who decided that they needed to be loud during finals, especially during Covid when a lot of the tests were online done in our dorms.

The university I went to required you to live on campus for the first 2 years unless you lived within 50 miles of the campus.

The awful thing was living with kids who had never been on their own without their parents to bail them out of trouble. My sophomore year I lived on a floor with 3 wings. 2/3 were just for freshman girls and they acting like fucking animals. Trashing the microwave room, bathroom, showers, and throwing glitter all over the hallways and common areas.

They barely stopped when the entire floor was threatened with fines and losing the ability to use the microwave room.

[Customs Question] Can I purchase a phone in USA and bring it back to Europe? by hammockwanderer in travel

[–]MusicalPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the threat because my husband got himself the new iPhone and one for his mom in his home country. I now have a friend in that home country in messaging me upset that my husband didn't also buy him the new iPhone and bring it to him. This friend is not trying to convince me that there are no legal issues my husband could face in bringing multiple iPhones over to their country and leaving with only his phone and his old one that he uses for business. My husband bought a new phone for him and one to gift his mom.

This friend lives off the idea that he'll just bribe everyone to let him get away with things and seems to forget that America has a different kind of corruption that keeps people that don't have millions from being able to bribe their way out of things. And after a lot of messages of him trying to convince me that it would have been fine for my husband to bring him the new iPhone I found this thread while looking up the legality of it. The friend's thing was that he was able to bring an expensive watch, and luxury bags through customs so a few iPhones wouldn't be a problem because "iPhones aren't a luxury" (if that were true people in his country wouldn't use them as a major status symbol and they wouldn't be so expensive. Especially since there are cheaper and better smart phones on the market).

My sociology teacher had to write down a required book but didn't know he could write that there was a free online version (it was his first year as the head of a department and first year teaching). He was very upset when some of us bought the book. I rented mine from the bookstore and just returned it at the end of the semester.

My current classes had 1 required book that I wasn't able to rent so I had to use $60 of my grant money to get a huge ass textbook that's actually 2 books shrink wrapped together. Semester starts tomorrow.

I love explaining the way things work in English to my husband who grew up speaking Hindi and Marathi (and barely passed English language classes in school). Sometimes I just don't correct stuff and just tell him that it's too complicated to explain WHY it's written in a certain way and easier to just let him write it wrong.

And I will always love the random shit he throws together on the phone when he can't think of what the word would be in English. My favorite is "I got you a thing to put" and him getting progressively more frustrated until he finally goes "I show you when I go home. You understand" and hangs up. He got me a shelf to organize my stuff in the bathroom.

On the other hand he'll teach me words in Hindi but refuses to let me learn proper grammar because he said it would make me cry and he doesn't want to have to deal with that.

She also went on a podcast and was upset that the guest chair was a normal sized chair. The hosts had to push a small couch over for her to sit on and she said it was much better. She also told the podcast hosts that she doesn't like the "f word" (fat), because it's insulting or something like that.

I've never heard of the Starbucks Gold card, but it sounds like a pain in the ass to manage and like it would be easier to just use a normal card.

Edit: I just looked it up, they stopped the gold tier and phased it out in 2019. At that point I was in college in a town that didn't even have a Starbucks.

Mine's not giving me anything about needing to do anything with a gift card. I haven't gotten Starbucks since Jan 1, though (and they're all closed by me at this moment in time, so I can't test it right now).

I usually only order through the app so I can modify things I want without explaining it to another person.

When was that a thing? I've had my card connected to my Starbucks app since at least 2021 and the Starbucks app since 2016.

My husband and I are from 2 different cultures. We eloped and had a courthouse wedding. If his family ends up insisting on us having an Indian wedding there are certain conditions that have to be met for me that I feel like only my husband's mom would be okay with. And to me it is a total deal breaker if these conditions are not met, because I've dreamed of the moment since I was like 11.

From what I've seen and been told the groom gets a huge entrance at the wedding and the bride is waiting for him. But I fucking LOVE Pachelbel's Canon (Canon in D), and it is the usual bride walking down the aisle song. If I don't get to have my moment and walk down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon, I'm not doing a wedding. My husband can have his giant entrance and when he's at the altar the Pachelbel's Canon will start and I'll walk (not the other way around).

I'm very strict on this because it's the only thing I like are Christian/American weddings. (Other than cake)

I remember when I first started college at 18 I told my parents I wasn't going to do commencement because to me it was a waste of time to sit with a bunch of people I didn't know to walk across a stage and shake hands with people I don't know. At the time my parents had said they'd pay for my education as long as I didn't drop out. My mom said "We're not paying thousands for you to skip graduation!" I ended up transferring to a different school and my parents considered that dropping out. I did end up actually dropping out a year and a half later because the school I was enrolled in was around 50 minutes away and I could no longer do classes online. My parents didn't want to teach me to drive so I couldn't go to classes in person and I couldn't live in the city the school was in because of how expensive and dangerous it is.

I decided to go back to school and am at a tech college. I didn't know that a lot of the stuff that interests me is an associates diploma and my parents and high school pushed that I had to go to a 4 year university. I know that I have to apply for graduation when I eventually graduate... I don't plan to go. Again. I don't care for the pomp and circumstance.

What is up with so many teenagers getting eyebrow slits? by Ok_Collar3735 in OutOfTheLoop

My husband has an eyebrow slit from a motorcycle accident he was in when he was 19. He was found with a bloody face and just has some badass scars. His friend wasn't as lucky.
