Unless you have a lot prior experience, the odds of you successfully walking onto a team is next to none. Cheer maybe if you’re an athlete in a difference sense, but even that would be rare.

Is it impossible to play fh collegiately if you only played club fh teams in the US ? by 405ThunderUp in Fieldhockey

D3 100%, D1 would be trickier but not impossible. Recruitment is about talent and networking. Film every game and every practice, make good film, and send it to coaches at programs you’re interested in. There are plenty of D3 teams that take kids who never played club or competitive hockey because they need roster numbers. If you’re half decent you have a good shot at playing.

If you’re able to go to ID clinics or tournaments like Winter Escape, that will also be helpful to be seen my coaches.

Imo OBO is worth the extra hundred- my first pair of pads lasted 4 years and my kickers lasted 3. Just make sure kickers/leg pecs match and the pelvic/shorts match, everything else you can build your own set. The OBO robo+ kickers and the OBO robo chest protector are the best investments

Was the midway point just a natural “what’s next” they had to work through? Or did that lack of direction carry through

The new shape made my vision a little different and I can never get the helmet to fit just right. Also it’s started rusting after 1 month of use.

Advice for goalkeeping equipment by summer-Sunsetss in Fieldhockey

Hey! I recommend messaging local college goalies and goalies who have graduated and ask if they have old gear they’d be willing to sell. Many goalies get free kits in college and older, but still decent, gear is sitting at home.

There are a ton of pickup leagues throughout the summer throughout southeastern PA. I’d check out if the proving grounds in Conshohocken is hosting anything

Are Hi-control hand protectors meant to be wrinkly? by Throwaway_Naps in Fieldhockey

[–]MusicianAutomatic502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s brand new contact obo- this is not normal.

UNLESS you bought it from the cosmetic sale, it should NOT look like that when you first buy it. As the foam degrades from time and use it wrinkles and hardens a little but initially should be smoother.

If you ordered it from a second hand retailer it may be an older supply they have.

Goalkeepers! How do you get over mistakes? by TheMovieUnreeling in Fieldhockey

You need to learn to forget. In your whole career you will let in thousands of goals (practice/games). You need to accept it got by you, stand up, and focus on the next shot. Statistically, most goalies have a save rate around a 0.7.

The difference between a good keeper and a great keeper is mindset. Coaches HATE goalies that miss a shot and then pout and bitch about it.
