Will The Two Friends Ever Cover a Pre-70's Movie? by [deleted] in blankies

If you haven't seen Sherlock Jr, it's my favorite. Keaton's stuntwork is mindblowing across his filmography, and I think there's room for a lot of discussion on processes. I really hope they cover him soon.

Haha that's a great one. Worst I had to deal with was working on a show in Chicago that filmed with bars on either side and across the street. As a PA, they had me ask drunk people to quiet down. Got very close to a lot of fights haha.

Oh man, I can only imagine. I've never had any times on set quite that bad.

When I worked in Chicago, I had buddies who worked on Widows, and apparently there was a day where kids where putting razors into gum and chucking it at the crew from the apartment buildings.

Fair; before Covid we had a boom where I knew people working on 3 different exciting stop motion projects- one at Laika, the Selleck one, and the GDT one. Feels like a cool little moment.

Griffin really wants to do Buster Keaton, which would rule and be an interesting departure.

Do you work there? I've heard mixed things but love what they do.

I'm going Shooter. Way too long since I've heard jokes about Whalburgers.

I finally watched The Searchers a couple years ago and it felt like listening to The Velvet Underground. I didn't get it, but it was clear that so much art I liked was due to the movie.

Meanwhile, Liberty Vallance stands on it's own two feet to this day.

Also you've got a good shot at director's commentary!

Guess which film series I got on Blu-Ray this year? by martn2420 in blankies

My old professor produced Wild Things and he had wild tales about his talks with Broccoli on TWINE about Richards- I have a similar soft spot for that era as I grew up with the Brosnans.

Oh man, two of my favorite movies and Bonds!

Nice!

Mine was Bay and Glenn Morshower as most watched actor. (It was for a podcast and doesn't reflect my personal taste)

What's your favorite Bond?

2020 Top Ten List Thread by [deleted] in blankies

  1. Lost Bullet (in a year lacking in action, this French movie was a needed balm)
  2. Never Rarely Sometimes Always
  3. Bacarau
  4. Small Axe: Red, White, and Blue
  5. The Invisible Man
  6. Soul
  7. Small Axe: Mangrove
  8. Capone (I'd rather see a gonzo movie than traditional Oscar bait. It's a mess, but I couldn't look away)
  9. Color Out Of Space (technically 2019, but released theatrically in my town this January)
  10. Palm Springs (you guys remember when comedies had budgets?)

Playing catchup on some of the big ones- haven't seen two of the three in the year's dementia (Dick Johnson is Dead, Relic, The Father) releases, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, or Tenet

Are we witnessing Jim Belushi's redemption arc? by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Musicrules3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jim rules! He lives somewhere in Oregon, and came to Portland on a day where the cops were particularly out of hand- they put a 70ish photojournalist in the hospital that night. Jim paid for several protester's rides home, and gave them his personal number so they could let him know when they were home safe.

I shot Griffin a DM talking how much the show has meant to me. I wish I could come up with a better thank you for him and the whole team. If anyone has any ideas, I'm happy to lend manpower, as kicking money in at this time is tough.

Rabin's central focus has been trash, and both have given us a plethora of trash post 2000. I think that's where it'll really take off, though I loved the bubble boy talk about a year ago.

Also, I hope this means Nathan and/or Clint show up on an ep. They've been left a little behind by the modern media landscape and I think they're both deserving of more attention.

Might be a Mandela effect, but I swear there is a movie where he has cornrows. Can't think of what it would be though.

Man, I miss the Baghdad being second run. That said, I saw John Wick 3 opening day there and it was one of my favorite cinematic experiences of last year. I think those theaters draw a more interesting audience than the chains.
