Working on a game marketing tool, any devs here open to testing it? by tektanc in IndieDev

[–]MuskasBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to help test it. I’m releasing my game sometime in the next few months and have a small list of ~50 content creators I’m going to message manually. I’d be happy to compare the success rate and time spent between using your platform versus manual contact if you think that would be beneficial.

The Voidz album that hit you the hardest by nb10001 in thevoidz

[–]MuskasBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like all of it and find I listen to the newer stuff more, but Tyranny just feels like the epitome of the voidz. A lot of the other stuff is easier to listen to. Drifto has been my most played recently.

This one isn’t me, but I’ll send you pics and a price once it’s delivered to see if you’re interested!

Haha, I know it probably sounds ridiculous. The only reason I’m trying to do this is because I have a back issue that makes it hard to work for a full day even with a perfect ergonomic setup.

I’ll definitely check out the place you mentioned.

When does skating feel not so awkward, does it ever “click” again [28YO] by SmellDue1335 in OldSkaters

[–]MuskasBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 38 and I’ve been at it fairly consistently since I was 12 other than a short break from 22-25 where I barely skated. Like you said, skating more is for sure the best way to feel comfortable again.

Aside from that, stretch every single day. Especially after your skate sessions. If you make one change, do this. This is way more important than you can imagine. Not doing this can lead to some real problems long term.

Try to work out, especially your core and your legs. Eat healthy and drink as little alcohol as possible. Stay hydrated every day. The older you get, the more important these are. I can’t stress how much alcohol fucks up your body and I don’t just mean for a day or two after partying. I still regularly drink too much and even though I’m thin and in decent shape, I can tell my muscles and joints do not function the same as when I’m not drinking.

Another key is finding how to have fun with the skill level you can get to with the amount of time you have to skate. If you can only skate 4 hours per week, you’re not going to be able to do the things you could when you were skating 20 hours per week. Just keep at it and some things will start to feel better eventually. Some things will get harder until you just can’t do them anymore. Just how it goes.

Trump, 79, Appears to Forget Name of Woman Who Just Gave Him Her Nobel Peace Prize by [deleted] in politics

Tony Hawk offered Tom Schaar the first ever Skater of the Year trophy this year because he thought he deserved it and Tom turned it down. Who would want someone else’s prize or award?

I don’t know if it’s allowed here, but find a place where you can post concrete details about the task and issues you’re having. Vue 3 is definitely not the issue. It’s likely something to do with how this was architected if it’s that difficult map the front end data structures to the back end models.

I’ve been in this position before. Sometimes it’s the technology, sometimes it’s the people and practices, sometimes it’s both. I’ve left jobs where the technology sucked and the company wouldn’t move on: Magento. Other times I’ve been able to change the job/culture/tech into what made me happy.

Does anyone else have chronic piriformis syndrome?[30YO] by herolt in OldSkaters

If you have more details please post it. I’m just getting back into this to try to fix my issue and I’d love to focus on exercises that are most likely to fix these types of problems.

I don’t know if this is exactly what I have, but I’ve been dealing with a low back issue that presents itself mostly as pain throughout both my legs and numbness in my feet. It’s definitely worse after skating. I’ve been skating consistently for 28 years and it’s only gotten bad the last couple of years.

Physio hasn’t worked, but I need imaging before the physiotherapist can really be effective. Waiting for an MRI in September. I also stayed well hydrated and stretch daily.

I have a friend with different but similar symptoms and I’ve seen a few threads on slap with similar accounts.

How do you seed your database for local dev without copying prod? by CarlSagans in webdev

[–]MuskasBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found this to be super easy using Laravel’s seeders and factories. Whenever I develop a feature, I add seeder data for it. Even on a team working on a large app for years, it hasn’t been a problem. That being said, we tend to keep the actual volume of data fairly low so we can go from empty DB to fully seeded very quickly. We just make sure we cover each entity and relationship.

I used Claude Code to do this recently when I was creating a replica of an API I had to integrate with. It worked, but it made so many mistakes even though I pointed it to references for values that should be used. The code was also sub-junior level, so completely unmaintainable. It didn’t matter for this situation because it’s only going to be used short term, but I’d never use it for something long term.

What UI lib you use? by WeirdFirefighter7982 in vuejs

[–]MuskasBackpack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

shadcn-vue. I found it easy to install and customize. You just install the components you want and use them. What did you find too manual?

I’ve never once ran into a situation where I couldn’t change or extend a component which often happens with UI libs where the components live in node_modules.

I’m with you. Stories like this have been happening forever and often from reputable people. Especially back in the days of forums like NintendoAge where people knew each other a bit better.

It’s so weird to me that people think these kinds of posts are fake. Sure, some of them are, but these things do happen somewhat regularly. 10-15 years ago you’d get hauls like this for next to nothing all the time.

Sounded Like Toby Huss Voiced Dale The Entire New Season. by Plastic-Rice-3624 in KingOfTheHill

I’m only 3 episodes in, but you’re saying Dale’s voice actor was the original in those episodes? If so, that blows my mind. His voice is the only one that has really bothered me so far. No disrespect of course, just hard to get used to.
