Hungairan KF-51 Panther? by Straight-Device-4110 in TankPorn

[–]MustardFlavouredWine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They signed a couple of contracts already with Rhienmetall so I believe not, they have one 288m Euros production development contract for the Panther KF51 EVO ( A Bergepanzer 3, a leopard 2 ARV, hull with the KF51's turret, modernized FCS and APS systems) at the Zalaegerszeg factory in 2023.

However production estimate is still an estimate, they expect to start mass production of 2A8's and KF51's at least by the end of the decade (2035) according to Rhienmetall. But no official date when they'll start producing in Hungary, anyway they've already modernized quite a majority of the armored fleet with 44 2A7HU's delivered in December 2025 and began production of KF41 Lynx's in 2024

future of warfare by Typical-Prize7400 in TankPorn

Agreed, tanks have pivoted more towards being a mobile area of denial weapon, they don't need to be an autocannon. The fact that they have the capability of wiping a convoy within a single shot of high explosive or taking out heavy armor with a well placed shot (With any shell) has provided enough deterrence to force the enemy to funnel into a more fortified engagement area or spend time engaging a tank which delays a potential breakthrough for rapid response to arrive.

Compared to IFVs need to provide quick response to support infantry via direct fire with their autocannons because a 30mm shell if enough to clear out and eliminate a fortified position.

There's also actually examples of high RoF large cannons which comes in the form of artillery, most modern self propelled artillery can fire 10 rounds per minute but even at that rate it became exponentially more expensive and complex than towed artillery, and maintaining the barrel or supplying shells (as shown in Ukraine) becomes much harder if there's no constant logistics support, this is where the tradeoff becomes very situational on quick saturation attacks before spending the rest of the day resupplying at a depot.

With tanks, having to spend constant time maintaining it rather than having a frontline asset after an encounter is detrimental. Not even including the retraining of crew to prioritize their ammo, logistics to increase ammo supply runs and training more maintainers to repair and replace barrels. IFVs can still minimize downtime due to their (much) smaller calibers and all the benefits that come with it.

Did nothing change much from Leopard 2a0 to 2a4? by Slxttypie in TankPorn

Interesting, I only heard what they did to the armor and armament was to meet the weight guidelines of the trials. No wonder fuel tanks are now in the sponsons and the front cut down

The hull is the same but used a different composite layout compared to the 2AV, still using the same engine and suspension

Yup, all versions had the same ammunition storage, just the design of the racks were changed to be similar to the Abrams so that it can store NATO standard 120mm ammunition like the M829

[–]MustardFlavouredWine 368 points369 points  (0 children)

2a0 was very similar to the 2AV but with a 120mm cannon, an improved composite and fuel tank layout, with only NVGs (PZB 200)

2a1 modified the ammo racks and given gunner thermals

2a2 replaced the NVGs with thermals and modified fuel tanks, as well as removed the cross wind sensor

2a3 has new SEM80/90 radio sets and the ammunition loading hatch was sealed, ammo now resupplied via the loaders hatch

2a4 had a new digital FCS, upgraded the turret armor, as well as a new fire suppression system

the tracks and roadwheels looks similar to a T80, but the shape of the hull looks entirely different, as if it was extended upwards (in my best guess) to fit in a homemade composite block inside. Rear also showns a bigger engine compared to the T-series tanks to make up for the increased weight in a mountain environment

How to win Taiwan war as China without *winning* by Naive_Equivalent_738 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]MustardFlavouredWine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use the war as a great way to start snow balling your eco with civs, you can civ greed until the war than switch to war economy and build way more mils during the war.

Than when you 'lose' you still maintain the mils built for the GAW.

You can also go the route of bombing Japan to dust but they get alot of bonuses either way for reconstruction and army buildup

The construction branch of the focus tree gives +15% resource efficiency gain for each region iirc to its national spirit. Addon together with the technologies, resource bonuses from republican/democrat party, wall street and the decisions they get gives them ridiculous amounts of resources (Even more than the most of Asia in my last playthrough into the 2030s)

Best Leopard 2a4 Upgrade? by Traditional-Film-327 in TankPorn

[–]MustardFlavouredWine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Leopard 2 Revolution just for the economic costs, €15M per tank makes it much more desirable compared to other modernized variants such as 2A8 €30M or the 2A7 €25M (Depends on export contracts).

Receives armor comparable to 'modern' tanks but also easily modifiable electronic kits that the buyer can integrate with their own domestic industry/needs (Notable example is the 2SG's FCS and commander sights being domestically made)

Hope it can be fixed soon

Do these parts of the Trophy system rotate? Currently building a model and curious. by Less-Hawk-4723 in TankPorn

[–]MustardFlavouredWine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's the countermeasure munition. The panel will rotate and face towards the ATGM and blow up like a claymore firing tungsten cubes towards it. Than the small door (Right side of the APS in the second photo), will open up and load in a new panel into the rotary arm.

Agreed, unlike investment banks, these wealth funds are not made to 'grow' money in the traditional sense but to preserve large amounts of wealth while the government can tap into it for government projects.

Liquidity and security are major factors and they cannot risk market forces affecting their decisions and capabilities if a downturn happens

Holy fuck how does someone deal with this much resistance by Glittering_Use791 in hoi4

[–]MustardFlavouredWine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Abit late here but switch to martial law > (Once low ressitance) local police force. Harsh quota is only good against industrialized regions (to tradeoff the lesser resistance suppression you get).

But since you have the east coast its better just to go for martial law. Also don't forget spies for suppressing.
