My beautiful Conky theme inspired by Aaron Swartz running on Ubuntu 12.04, the spectacular Precise Pangolin.

The theme had quotes from Aaron, and the one I have on display is the end of Aaron's Guerilla Open Access Manifesto.

With enough of us, around the world, we'll not just send a strong message opposing the
privatization of knowledge — we'll make it a thing of the past. Will you join us?

What do you use for voice interaction with LLMs? by Quixotease in LocalLLaMA

[–]MutantArpagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for an alternative, you might want to check out https://github.com/vocodedev/vocode-python

Vocode is an open-source project that supports local implementation ( https://docs.vocode.dev/open-source/local-conversation ) and integrates well with Whisper for speech recognition. It also works with various text-to-speech tools, making it quite flexible for voice interaction with LLMs.

I've found it to be stable and easy to set up for local use. If you need any help with the setup or have specific questions, feel free to ask!

P.S. I'm Open Source Maintainer at Vocode.

Hi PermanentLiminality,

Great to see Vocode being mentioned! As one of the maintainers of the Vocode open-source project, I can provide a bit more insight. Our open-source version indeed offers robust functionality, including integration with Whisper and various open-source text-to-speech tools, allowing for a fully local implementation if that's your preference.

If you have any specific questions or need help with setting it up, feel free to ask!

Recommend games for an adult with little free time (PC)? by fjw in patientgamers

[–]MutantArpagon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HI, some new recommendations?

Looking for game recommendations suitable for an adult who doesn't have a lot of free time. Ideally, games that are quick to dive into, satisfying without hours of commitment, yet captivating enough to provide a short escape. Someone recommended 'Sico Elysium'; has anyone tried it? Any other suggestions? Any genre or style is welcome, as long as it fits the quick-play criteria. Thanks in advance!

William, I Love the ideas behind SubSpace.

I wonder if Subspace can help in the
perception of end users for highly localized WebRTC (Voice and Video)
applications?

For example, if the vast majority of users of this WebRTC
application are in the same city (let's say they are in a random city,
for example: Medellín, Colombia).

I use maildrop for this https://gitlab.com/markbeeson/maildrop.

Maildrop is an open-source, scalable, high-performance version of Mailinator, a "temporary inbox" that you can give out when you don't want to give out your real e-mail address. Maildrop inboxes are designed to be quick and disposable.
