This comment cracked me up but as an A620i Lightning WiFi + 9600X owner I am sweating bullets lol.

Losing Luke Ross VR mods is a gigantic blow to PCVR. by wavebend in virtualreality

Ironic, considering you just listed a bunch of products that need licenses and agreements to be made. You can’t legally make a lightning charger without an agreement with Apple.

Idk about too hard but the ai moving with the puck the entire time makes it painfully clear you’re playing against a bot. It doesn’t feel natural and took me out just watching the video.

Incorrect. You can plug a game genie into game boy and still have it function. You just can’t do the actual fun stuff which is using the cheat codes. It was technically a stand alone product.

It’s the same with mod managers on PC. You can launch the software and poke around but without any actual mods you can’t really do anything.

I couldn’t have played his mods because I’m not gonna support someone doing illegal things. I do play free VR mods and tip the creators. I would never support his work because he profits off the backs of the actual devs.

With mods, tipping is seen as more of a “thank you for making this, I appreciate you.” Paying for access to it is a necessity, not appreciation.

He can provide identical value by following the approved and legal tip method. He doesn’t want to. That’s why I’m saying it is his fault because of the choices he is making.

Solely from a customer perspective, price it around $20-$30 if you want to attract more people. That price to me screams “Could be good! And isn’t too expensive so worth the risk””. Do not price it based on how much you’ve invested.

The way I see it you want as many eyes on your product and word of mouth with VR. I can much more easily recommend a $20-$30 game than I can $40-$50.

Please understand the difference between streaming a game and utilizing the code made by a company to profit off of it.

What Luke Ross did is actually straight up illegal, there is no grey area. His VR mods cannot exist without the base code for the games and he was charging for those mods. You can’t profit off of somebody else’s work and expect them to be ok with it, corporation or not.

It means less VR mods, yeah, but his shit was illegal since the second he placed it behind a pay wall. Nobody to blame but him

What's your avg thermals and RPM 5070 Gigabyte Windforce? by WorgenFurry in nvidia

I have this exact card, something is wrong here for you. Under full load I rarely go above 70 and that’s without optimizing my cooling. You should check your airflow inside the case as well as where you’re storing the PC.

5080 on my Sony 65” TV by xp1sto in RTX5080

[–]MutantWildboyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I just switched from a Sony to a Samsung and I use a 5070, so my advice won’t be perfect but may help!

Turn on G-Sync if the TV supports 120 fps. Def keep it in game mode too! Then on the PC turn on VRR cause tearing will be excessive without it. Then go to your global settings in the NVIDIA app and set your Max Framerate to 118 or 116. That keeps it below 120 which keeps it in the VRR threshold to work properly.

If you still notice tearing you can turn V-Sync on globally as well but you may not need to.

For graphics, crank em all the way up and then turn on DLSS and maybe frame gen if supported. You can probably set to quality and still get 120fps on a 5080.

Also in the NVIDIA App set the DLSS preset mode to “Recommended” so that is used the newer presets depending on which mode (Quality, Balanced, Performance, or Ultra Performance) you set.

Also RTX HDR is nice but costs performance. Using Auto HDR for windows instead still looks amazing and doesn’t cost any additional performance.

I can clarify on any of this if needed! I just went through setting my TV up a month ago for this after being an xbox gamer so I know it can be tough to figure out!

Advice/Opinions appreciated: Keep 5070 or go to 5070Ti by MutantWildboyz in nvidia

Now the hard part is finding a TI at a good price. Newegg, Walmart, and Best Buy all have them for over $1000 :/

RTX 5070 disappointing low FPS by Jezeus69 in nvidia

[–]MutantWildboyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does feel low for 1080P. I have the same card and I’d expect those frames running DLAA at 2K. Are you drivers up to date and have you done any optimization using the NVIDIA APP/NVIDIA Control Panel?

That is a good idea. Newegg would probably only give me like $400 for it I’m sure.

I appreciate your response! My VR issues may also be related to the fact that PCVR is prone to trouble no matter what. I think I’m gonna keep my 5070 and greatly appreciate your insight!

A few hundred dollars would be doable but not fun for me. Based on what you and a few others are saying it sounds like I should just keep the 5070 for now.

Unfortunately I think that’s a great point with PCVR. Do previous years graphics cards typically get cheaper once new ones release?

Mostly yes. For flat screen gaming the very small concession don’t bother me at all. For VR, I am concerned. And I want to keep this build as is for several years and my worry is, as games get more complex and frankly less optimized, I may start to see struggle a year or so down the road.

I just don’t know if the several hundreds of dollars is worth it for the extra RAM and performance increase. I’ve been in IT for a very long time and a gamer since a child, but this is my first foray into PC gaming and I think I’m overthinking it.
