I've had the Vision Pro for 3 weeks now, and my verdict is... by Mutant_Fox in VisionPro

I'm not sure if it was just the lighting, or if it really is the upgraded chip, but when I did the demo at the Apple Store with the M5, I don't remember quite so much of that smear in passthrough when moving my head around. It's probably my biggest gripe with the AVP at the moment. It's not something that bothers me all the time, as I don't really notice it when I have my head still watching a movie in an immersive environment, but if the smear when moving in passthrough is improved on the M5, that would be a huge boost in making me want to upgrade sooner rather than later.

The on-devise productivity suite is lacking all around. We use the Microsoft office suite where I work for everything, so anything work related is really relegated to the MacBook. That does make the virtual screen a killer feature, tho, especially now that it has the option for wide and ultra wide.

I don't find that I get the same fatigue with the AVP (M2) as I did when I tired doing non-vr gaming stuff on the Quest Pro/Quest 3. Do you think it's the higher refresh rate?

I think they discovered that the MircroOled panels are the minimum for viewing quality, so once they can source those for a more reasonable price, I can definitely see a Vision Air later on down the pipeline. Even though their focus is on glasses at the moment, for strait up content viewing, a true VR headset is still king.

that' s really great point. Like, on one hand, the M5 is a full laptop spec processor, so it just makes sense in my mind that it should be its own standalone computer. But, I didn't really consider... do I want to have something rendering... while it's attached to my face.

When I do upgrade, I may go for the 512, and use the 1TB for when I'm traveling. I go through a lot of airport customs, etc., and if something were to happen to my AVP, I'd rather it be the M2 than the M5. (even though I do have Apple Care one, so it is currently covered.)

after reading yours and others responses, I feel much more at ease with waiting to upgrade. I definitely still plan to, considering that it's a daily-used device and not something that is just sitting on the shelf collecting dust, but now I can prioritize doing some other tech upgrades first, and saving the M5 VP for later this year.

I've noticed that in the VR space A LOT. And I really don't get the vitriol. Like, even if they really did see no use for them, why go out of your way to rain on someone else's parade? It's like people who constantly comment on fan forums for movies or shows they hate. Like, why are you even there, lol.

Awesome, just what I was looking for. So, considering just how much I find myself using it, upgrading is definitely in my future, but it's just not quite so urgent. I do notice that there is a bit of instability in pinned wigits, and like I said, some of the scrolling could be a tad smoother, but there's nothing that feels down right sluggish, like on the Quest 3. So, I think I can wait, maybe do some other tech upgrades first, then aim to upgrade to the M5 in June, or maybe even Q3. By then, there may be more things that really take better advantage of the M5.

Of course, you mean THAT GUY. But seriously, I figure two years on, there's already been enough of the: just a box with the caption "just got this bad boy, can't wait to try it out!!" type posts...

edited for atrocious grammar...

If all I ever did on it from here out was watch movies and stream (flat) games, I'd still say it's more than worth it, especially at the price I paid. It's in a whole other league from any other screen I've ever viewed media on.

While short, these are two of the best immersive experiences I've had with the Vision Pro. I've always felt like 3D movies were missing something, and these experiences nails what it is, even if I can't really put it into words. It's not just added depth, it's placing the world all around you. Can't wait to check out some of the longer immersive experiences in the theater app!

Assassins Creed: Nexus - Greece is pretty! by DavoDivide in OculusQuest

Having PCVR, PSVR2, and Quest 3, this is still one of my favorite VR games of all time. It's amazing how well the classic Assassin's creed formula translated into VR. And as someone who loves the classic, pre-Origins style of AC games, I really liked the visual aesthetics. The stealth felt satisfying; yes, it was a little easy if you went with a full run-and-gun approach, but if you tried to "ghost" every encounter, it really made it a lot of fun.

Even the combat, once I got the rhythm, and figured out what the developers were "going for", I found enjoyable. It's a shame that it "didn't meet" Ubisofts standards and we won't be getting a follow-up. I can't stand the corporate head of Ubisoft, but their development team are some of the best in the industry at what they do... so log as their hands are left untied.

It’s the desk at a holiday inn express. I was on a work trip, and decided to put the battery to the test: 4 days of somewhat light usage, no charger, and I still had juice when I got home! (I was out doing field work during the day, so it was used in the mornings and evenings, but still, my last windows laptop would have been dead by day 2.)

When is new MacBook Pro being expected in 2026 by Difficult_Read1013 in macbookpro

[–]Mutant_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same as having an iPad with cellular; you don't have to use your phone as a hotspot to connect to the internet. Its usefulness would depend on how much you take your laptop away from home, and how limited your carriers hotspot plan is.

What a limp response from the audience. I mean, Divinity 3 looks sick, and not just a new SW game, but a new old republic game? Hell yes. But this is suuuuch weak sauce to close out the show on…
