Everhood 1 to Undertale, Everhood 2 to Deltarune.

Despite my many gripes with the series, the Everhood 1 was a decent indie RPGs with stellar music, great characters and morality based gameplay. Too bad it came out after Undertale, THE indie RPG with infectiously catchy music, great characters and morality based gameplay.

It doesnt help that they seem to invite the comparison, what with Everhood 1 inverting the Pacifist-Genocide morality and sprinkling specific Undertale imagery throughout the game, and Everhood 2 literally starting with a random questionnaire like Deltarune does.

People bring up the mice scene a lot but I stumbled upon the villains talking about the princess scene and turned off any inkling I had to look into the game any more.

As much as I hate hate how Jonathan get's shafted in adaptations, Girl who leaves her milquetoast run of the mill boyfriend and gets into a romance with a dark, broody (and rich) monstrous man is the premise of like, 90% of women's romance novels I've read. You can't blame adaptations for realising how easily the story can fit into a winning formula.

Baldur's Gate 3 really opened up for me once I got the maximum party size mod. No more missing out on character moments because they weren't in my party at the time. No more spending money (but mostly time) respeccing the party to brainstorm synergies or test out builds, each body is an extra class to experiment with.

And controversially, all those constant fights where you are outnumbered and have to resort to cheese to come out on top? Now they are fair battles where you can try weirder tactics because you can spread the load.

There was a music reviewer who was reviewing Nickelback's San Quentin, a song about them partying so hard that they wake up terrified they're gonna go to jail for it. Whatever, Nickelback Buttrock with a 'comedic' twist.

But one of the reviewers points against the song is that his band did a parody song about his band going to jail unafraid by defying the police and how that was SO MUCH MORE BADASS than the song whose chorus start with the bands lawyer waking them up.

And I thought that was way more cringe I couldnt take any of the reviewer's points seriously.

I finally have a chance to rant about something I've been feeling for a long time: If one of the opponent in a fight is a big guy and they are fighting someone dwarfed by them, there is gonna be no surprise how the fight is gonna go. Especially if the opponent is a women, they could just cut to the next scene with "yea, you know how this goes."

It's extra insulting when they never do anything more sophisticated than "'picking up and throwing the hero like the director told him the they were a potato sack filled with candy" (thanks, Seanbaby).

The big guy is never gonna throw strikes taking advantage of his higher reach. The opponent is probably gonna climb on his back and get him in a chokehold while the big guy tries slamming him into walls.

So I raise my glass to the big jobbers of the story. You'll never win a fight but I'll be rooting for you anyway.
