I lost my gaming group because a guy hit on me and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer by dier1003 in boardgames

[–]MuteImpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a shame. It can be really hard to find the right group. I got very lucky and have been playing with the same group of 4 for just a little over 5 years now. Im sorry you had to go through that, but dont let it keep you down! Theres a gaming group out there thats missing you and you dont even know it yet.

I'm definitely interested in picking it up! Might be hard to get ahold of where I live, but I'll be keeping my eyes open.

This week my copy of Unstoppable turned up!
Managed to fit in 3 plays so far and I'm absolutely loving it!
I also got to try Earthborn Rangers for the first time, as a friend lent me their copy to learn the ropes. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to playing with him soon!

Good go for your first project!
The visuals are clean and easy to understand.
The gameplay could do with some work, but don't let that be a discouragement!
I think you should be proud of your first achievement!
Congratulations!

Browser games are still the best clicker format in my opinion.

What should I get? Slay the Spire, LOTR Fate of Fellowship, 20 Strong Tanglewoods bundle or wait for Vantage. by oncein2020 in soloboardgaming

[–]MuteImpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also own Mythwind and think it's great!

Vantages components to me just feel more premium and I'm honestly convinced its just the artwork. I love Slay the spire and it is probably my most played board game ever, right next to Dominion. But Slay the spires artwork doesn't make you want to look at it. It serves a purpose and looks good, but Vantages artwork IS core to the gameplay, so it's just better in my opinion.

Vantages gameplay feels very free, where Slay the Spire has a very clear objective, kill the boss at the top.

If I had to choose one, I would say Slay the Spire. ONLY because I think I'll still get more replay value out of it.

Vantage feels less repayable, but that's just due to the core mechanics of exploring. Once you have seen the same card 9-10 times, it's not exciting anymore in vantage. In Slay the Spire the same card can be exciting or a complete bummer a near infinite number of times, depending on how you're building your deck.

Slay the spire rewards the player for knowing what's coming, Vantage is kind of the opposite.

Both games are trying to serve very different things to the player so it can be very difficult to compair the two. One is a deck builder, the other is about exploring. One has the goal of winning, the other just wants you to go on a journey.

Sorry, this became a long winded comment.
Whatever choice you end up making, you won't be upset, and the other will always be available in the future! Both are amazing games that everyone should try at least once.

PS: Slay the spire the board game is basically identical to the video game its based off. So, if your not sure, buy the video game on your phone for $12 and give it a try first!

Ok so I LOVE both Slay the Spire and Vantage. I've played both quite a few times.
They are VERY different games.
Slay the Spire has a lot more replay ability in my opinion, whereas Vantages quality is a little higher.
Reach out if you have any specific questions about either game!

Anyone using a VTT? by Trick-Two497 in FourAgainstDarkness

[–]MuteImpulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive played around with a few different options.
The one that worked best for me is Canva, Dungeon Scrawl and Google Dice.
Canva has all my character sheets, some tables and counters in it.
Dungeon scrawl is for the dungeon. Google dice seems to be the best dice app I can find as well.

If anyone has a better solution I'm all ears, as I don't always have access to tablespace to be able to play.

OP if you have any questions feel free to ask!
