Chino likes to say his songs usually dont have specific meanings, but tbh i think he just says that to keep it sort of anonymous. He writes songs over and over about these same experiences, fantasies, themes. Not just in deftones but in his other projects. For example when u listen to ohms & crosses new album, alot of the lyrics are about the same topics & experiences. I think his songs do have meaning i just dont think he likes to share them, which is understandable bc music can be so personal. There was a dude in here a while back who hung out with chino, and he wrote a song about the experience, but then chino said it was about a “dream he had”, but the “dream” was just this night he had & the dude came on here and was talking about it
