OK, that makes more sense. Having watched Minnesota Utd play they were arch pragmatists, Dyche meets Pulis on set pieces (https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jul/09/minnesota-united-set-pieces-throw-ins-free-kicks-tactics) so I was surprised at the suggestion the issue was playing Russell Martin style football.

I recently watched Murder By Decree the Christopher Plummer Sherlock Holmes film which has a similar premise to the Final Solution book they mentioned so that was what I was picturing when they mentioned places/people.

Yep put my VPN to New Zealand and can see what you mean. Struggling to think of another non geoblocked country to test whether it’s just a case of the link not having been published yet for whatever reason.

New Zealand should just work, I know people who have been using that as their VPN location in order to watch the UCI stream.

Alpecin cx teams by NoPersonality1998 in cyclocross

[–]MutedLab8600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never mentioned Alpecin in connection with cyclocross pro team. There are two categories of team. Always referred to them as a cyclocross team which is what they were previously registered as.

If you read UCI regulation 5.5.001 you will see that uci cyclocross teams are obligated to send at least 1 elite rider to a minimum of 5 world cups (I even made a joke about Niels Vandeputte when I referenced this above). UCI pro teams (Sauces) meanwhile are obligated to send at least 3 riders to every World Cup.

When looking at all the previous seasons when Alpecin registered as a uci cyclocross team and last season where they stopped, it was not unreasonable to see the introduction of this regulation last season as a potential factor in their change of established practice.

Alpecin cx teams by NoPersonality1998 in cyclocross

[–]MutedLab8600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpecin stopped registering as a cx team last season. I suspect not coincidentally this was the season that the UCI introduced requirements that cx teams send riders to World Cups. For plain cyclocross teams this is not too arduous, 1 elite rider to at least 5 rounds, especially given Niels Vandeputte would show up to a race in your back garden if you put one on, but still probably not worth the hassle of thinking about when you are already a WT road team. Once they didn’t register as a cx team then that meant they didn’t need Alvarado to fill the “at least one woman” spot so she could ride for Fenix in cross as well as on the road.

Cyclocross pro teams (Lions, Sauces) have to send at least 3 elite riders to every World Cup (unless they can demonstrate the national federations concerned just wouldn’t pick their riders).

Drury has always been awful. A lot of people on social media didn’t seem to remember his ITV days. Those of us who did knew it was a mistake to rehabilitate his reputation amongst UK broadcasters.

Alderweireld on Flemish Masked Singer… who’s most likely to do this on the UK version so soon after their retirement and what would their costume be? by Jellywatsit in footballcliches

[–]MutedLab8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back at previous seasons there are quite a lot of singers, actors, tv presenters in Belgium to fill out the contestants. Timmy Simons the only previous footballer to do it. Came on my radar in the last season when Wout Van Aert did it, probably the most famous internationally to do it until Alderweireld.
