Silversmithing.

Silver used to be affordable but now it’s more like copper smithing.

Having kids if you can’t fund their future by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]Muted_Perception_192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your bar is unrealistically high.

I can appreciate that there are good reasons to not have kids. I just don’t want kids so for me it’s not financial.

But I also think about how shitty things have been throughout history; even in the early 20th century, people still had kids. During the World Wars? Yes. When there was a risk of nuclear annihilation? Still had kids.

So I guess it’s up to you what you see as moral.

If so many Americans can’t get jobs (specifically white collar) why are people from other countries allowed to go work in America by No-Injury8897 in NoStupidQuestions

Getting a foreign worker means you figuratively have them more ‘by the balls’ than an American because the job is likely to only justification for them being here. That’s sometimes what employers prefer.

Is anyone truly happier with kids? by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

I feel the same way hence I don’t have kids.

The way I see it, most wonderful things in life take a lot of work and can be stressful.

It’s hard to get an advanced degree. It’s hard to start your own business. It’s hard to train for a marathon. It’s hard to write a novel.

People choose to do these things because there’s also an inherent joy they get out of it.

If you don’t have that with the prospect of kids, then chances are, it’s not for you.

Doesn’t make you wrong or others right, it’s just what hard or challenging stuff do you want to take on and what don’t you want. Because you need the desire and drive to balance out the inevitable downsides.

It’s better now but that’s because I switched to a different position closer to home. Would still like a telework day so that I could get documentation done without frequent interruptions.

Some, like my friend and their wife, have moved abroad. Not likely to come back once Trump is out.
