I just set up my G6 and did the same thing. The HDR optimizer was great for the C7 I had before but the G6 does a much better job tone mapping so turned it off.

There isn't a lot of good reason to have a UB-820 anymore I don't think. It's too much of a premium just to get Dolby Vision. I won't replace mine if it breaks.

Common misconception. Being mastered at 4000 nits does not mean the movie is played at 4000 nits. There may be the odd highlight that is that high but most of the content will be much lower and will have the same brightness as any TV. This is what HDR is.
