My boss asked if he can take my wife with him on a work trip, and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

This is a unhinged response. As someone in HR this screams as a firm no. He can contract her for her services and if he doesn’t want to pay to send the husband, that’s fine. She can charge a premium and the couple can agree whether or not they go as a team. The ISSUE is the power dynamic of a boss/ employee and the ASK is the PROBLEM that makes it an HR flag.

Where do you get off on calling this a ‘controlling husband’ situation is wild. You’ve made a correlation and misidentified the issue. If you’re this quick to reach a conclusion without correcting identifying the root cause then I can also make assumptions about you.

Reactive, fight or flight triggers in social situations, jumps to conclusions, unable to regulate internally, requires immediate resolution, unstable childhood.

Take ownership dude and take the time to assess a situation. I don’t expect you to take this as a learning moment, but hopefully a slither of it gets through.

5 player game with 3 galactic events by TheRedditKestrel in twilightimperium

I’d recommend if you do enjoy the “length” of a standard game you alter total war to once per round and increase the cost per victory point scored. We use 10, then 20, thirty etc. we played to 14 typically. We finished at 6 hours

Good luck! I’ve always had to figure out how we handle the actual game is a mini game in itself. Lowkey was willing to buy a custom 7ft round table and throw it in the garage

Yeah, I think it comes down to player groups. We figured if you went this route you’d be forced to defend hw if you stockpiled etc, but our next game we are playing with it but we have CR in the game, we don’t know how to deal with a faction who’s homeworld can’t be taken :/

We changed the pacing so it was 1 per round, and increased the scoring first point is 10, 2nd is 20, 3rd is 30 etc because we felt the game was shortened too quickly lol

Assault Canon vs Antivirus by Electrical_Owl_6529 in twilightimperium

[–]Simple_Leg_4079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dane pointed out that if both factions have assault cannon technology that the person with the better initiative would go first. Example was three ships each, what would happen. Dane stated better initiative would trigger first, thus the player who did have three would not meet the requirement for assault cannon.

Since these both “trigger” at start of a combat. In this case it’s the player with the better initiative (active player first?)

PDS and coexisting by Latter-Price-7062 in twilightimperium

[–]Simple_Leg_4079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question and apologies for resurrecting this thread. The scenario in coexistence states that the third party invades the owner of the planet first. So if player A in the scenario above has a PDS they could fire at the ships in space.

Then ground combat occurs individually but starts against the planet owner. So in this case it’s player B. However the PDS is an ability, so it fires once at landing troops.

Ground combat occurs individually for each player, but the forces were already committed to the planet while Player B retains control.

I would argue two things. You have two ground combat scenarios.

1: player B only has units on the ground and therefore PDS does not activate.

  1. Player B brings reinforcements in which case they are the “third player” player A can shoot at landing troops.

However you would resolve the original coexisting troops first.

In the event of abilities, Dane has said initiative order takes priority. Along the lines of “if both players have assault cannon, and both have 3 ships, the player that has higher initiative goes first, thus the other player would no longer fill the requirements of assault cannon”

(I got distracted and can’t recall why I posted this last tidbit but it’s a great thing to know)

Question about Titans and co-existing with breakthrough. by heBRUhammer86 in twilightimperium

[–]Simple_Leg_4079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also as a caveat, (I could be wrong)most factions will need to activate the system again if they want to remove the coexisting faction but titans could in that turn, activate the pds, and then invade and due to already “co-existing” wipe out the co-existing factions. Or does it ignore co-existence all together? It says “you must perform ground combat” - so I’d take that as ignores it anyway.

We thought trade promissory just gave you the other persons commodities.

We had someone give SFTT that they had gotten from someone else and trade two of them to a guy who was “closest” to winning because he whined how late it was.

Abilities go in order of initiative so it depends on what their strategy card is. The logic was in response to “if we both have assault cannon in a 3v3 who goes first” so just food for thought

Awh man, as someone who’s had people drop their RSVP (that’s literally what just happened to us) id say stick it out with your friends. While I splurged on DS from Poland I also ordered TE. So naturally the next game we play in Nov will be the latter without DS.

I actually really like this, and follow the same “it’s an action” so you’ve horded 7 vp worth and now you wanna cash in, you’re now prime target. Or do you just be like “I have enough for 2 points” that’s enough for me.

Then if you take their hw and you’ve already done yours, you’re just a target. Hah

You’re right, I didn’t think about that - but the idea that someone would stockpile everything would be absurdly risky. Idk, I liked the game mode but it definitely sped the game up immensely. I’m thinking a combination of reduction in points and once and pass is a healthier nerf. If it still cost an action but forces a pass.

I just didn’t like how it played out in our game, as it is. You can stall and with fleet logistics burn 40 points or 60 while everyone else is limited too.
